It was late in the afternoon, and Ant and Dec were wrapping up a meet-and-greet event for their fans. They'd spent hours taking photos, signing autographs, and sharing quick chats with everyone who'd come to see them. Just as they were getting ready to leave, a young woman in her twenties stepped forward, her face lit up with a mix of excitement and nerves. She had big eyes full of hope and gratitude, and her hands shook a little as she approached.

"Hi, I'm Veronica," she managed, her voice barely above a whisper. Ant and Dec smiled, reaching out to shake her hand.

"Lovely to meet you, Veronica!" Ant said warmly. "Thanks for coming to see us."

"Yeah, we're glad you made it," Dec added, his grin as welcoming as ever.

Veronica took a deep breath, struggling to hold back her emotions. She'd thought of this moment so many times, rehearsing all the things she wanted to say, but now that she was actually in front of them, the words stuck in her throat. Her eyes filled with tears.

"I'm sorry," she whispered, looking down, embarrassed. "I just... I've wanted to meet you two for so long. You've... you've saved my life in so many ways." She paused, her voice trembling. "There were times when I felt completely hopeless, like the world was too heavy to bear. But watching you both, seeing how much joy and love you bring to people... it kept me going. You gave me a reason to keep fighting."

Ant's smile softened, his eyes filling with compassion as he gently reached out to rest a hand on her shoulder. Dec's expression mirrored his friend's, his own voice warm and comforting. "That's so brave of you, Veronica," Dec said, his voice low and heartfelt. "Thank you for sharing that with us."

Veronica gave a watery smile, tears rolling down her cheeks as she looked at both of them. "I wanted to thank you in person... for everything. For giving me hope when I had none. I don't know what I'd have done without you."

Ant and Dec both leaned in, wrapping her in a gentle hug, letting her know that her words meant more to them than she could ever realise. For a few moments, they just held her as she cried softly, whispering words of encouragement until she calmed down. When they finally parted, they each took one of her hands and gave her a warm, reassuring smile.

"You're so strong, Veronica," Ant said softly. "Never forget that."

"And we're always here, alright? If you ever need a little reminder of how amazing you are," Dec added, his eyes glistening with emotion. Veronica nodded, taking a deep, steadying breath before she said goodbye and left with a small but deeply grateful smile on her face.

Later that night, back at their shared hotel room, Dec sat in quiet reflection. The encounter with Veronica had touched him deeply. He was usually the one offering comfort, but her words, and the strength it must have taken for her to express them, had left a lingering feeling in his heart. Ant noticed his friend's unusually quiet demeanour and nudged him gently.

"Oi, what's got you so deep in thought?" he asked, smiling softly.

Dec glanced at him, his eyes filled with a warmth that Ant knew all too well. He hesitated for a moment, feeling a little embarrassed, but he reached out to squeeze Ant's hand.

"It's just... hearing her story made me think," Dec began, his voice soft. "How lucky I am to have you. I've got someone who's been by my side through everything, who's been my constant, you know?"

Ant's expression softened as Dec continued, a small smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "I just... I love you, Ant. More than I can even explain. And I don't know what I'd do without you." He reached up to press a gentle kiss on Ant's cheek, his heart full of gratitude.

Ant felt a lump rise in his throat. Though they'd been through countless adventures together, moments like these always caught him by surprise. He wrapped his arm around Dec's shoulder, pulling him in closer.

"I love you too, Dec. Don't ever doubt that," Ant murmured, resting his head against Dec's. They sat in comfortable silence, holding onto each other as if to seal the moment in their memories. Ant felt Dec's arm slip around his waist, pulling him even closer, and he pressed a soft kiss to Dec's cheek in return, a quiet, heartfelt gesture.

They stayed like that for a long while, just sharing in each other's presence, their hands intertwined and their hearts full. They exchanged more gentle cheek kisses, letting each one convey the words they couldn't fully say. The quiet of the room was filled with the warmth of their friendship, their love-a bond that had withstood everything life had thrown at them.

As they lay back, curled up on the couch, Ant whispered softly, "I don't know what I'd do without you either, Dec." His voice was thick with emotion as he pressed another soft kiss to Dec's temple, and Dec leaned into him with a sigh, feeling a profound sense of comfort and gratitude.

"Then let's make sure we never have to find out, yeah?" Dec murmured, looking up at him with a small, fond smile.

They drifted off together like that, the weight of the day fading away, replaced by the warmth of knowing that, no matter what, they'd always have each other.
