Ant and Dec were lounging around Stephen's cosy living room, sharing laughs and swapping stories. They'd come over for a relaxing afternoon-just the three of them catching up between their busy schedules. The day had been comfortably quiet until they heard soft, hurried footsteps descending the stairs.
Stephen's girlfriend entered the room, looking a bit pale but wearing a determined smile. Her eyes brightened when she spotted Stephen. "Hey," she greeted softly, her voice sounding a bit weak, "can I ask you for a small favour?"
Stephen immediately perked up, his eyes flickering with concern as he took in her appearance. "Of course, love. What's up?" he asked, reaching out an arm to gently invite her closer. He noticed how she seemed slightly unsteady on her feet, and without a second thought, he pulled her down to settle comfortably in his lap, wrapping his arm around her waist protectively. She leaned against his chest, sighing softly as he began gently rubbing circles on her back, his fingers reassuring and tender.
Without hesitation, she rested her head on his shoulder. "Pentatonix tickets," she murmured, "my birthday's coming up, and they're in town. Could I get tickets?"
Ant and Dec exchanged a quick, fond look, already charmed by her easy warmth and comfort with Stephen. They didn't know much about her yet, but her relaxed confidence and the way she interacted with Stephen made them smile. They could see how close she and Stephen were, and the way she leaned on him so naturally spoke volumes about their connection.
Stephen gazed at her lovingly, gently tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "Are you sure you're up for a concert with that migraine?" he asked, his voice soft with concern as he lightly ran his fingers through her hair, the other hand resting protectively on her back. "You know I'd love to get them for you, now you've finally decided what you want, but you're more important than any concert. I know you've never missed any of their tours, but you need to care for yourself too."
She gave a small, reassuring smile. "I think it'll pass by then, still got three weeks until my birthday and then a further two weeks until they're in London. I just wanted to make sure I had tickets before they sold out." She pulled out her phone, but Stephen quickly took it from her hands, giving her a playful yet firm look.
"No need, sweetheart. I've got it," he said, already tapping away on his own phone, making sure to order VIP meet and greet tickets. "You just relax," he added, pressing a gentle kiss to her temple.
Ant and Dec exchanged knowing grins, and Dec gave Stephen a nudge, whispering, "Who is this protective boyfriend we're seeing?" Stephen simply shrugged, a soft blush colouring his cheeks as he focused back on his girlfriend.
After a moment, she turned to Ant and Dec with a kind, slightly embarrassed smile. "Nice meeting you both! I'll be up for a proper introduction soon, I promise," she said apologetically. She waved a shy goodbye, then quietly headed back upstairs to rest, Stephen watching her go with a look of pure adoration, his hand still resting protectively on her back as she walked away.
Once she was out of earshot, Ant leaned closer to Stephen with a grin. "Mate, you're absolutely smitten," he teased, chuckling as he leaned back on the couch.
"Oh, completely head over heels," Dec added, raising an eyebrow with an amused smile. "Who is this guy, and what's he done with our Stevie?"
Stephen shrugged, a warm smile lingering on his face. "She's incredible, honestly. I can't wait for you two to meet her properly when she's back to herself. She's been wanting to meet you for a long time now. She's a huge Ant and Dec fan."
A few weeks later, Ant and Dec found themselves sitting across from Stephen and his girlfriend at a cosy, warmly lit little restaurant Stephen had picked out for their first real meal together. The atmosphere was intimate, with soft lights casting a comfortable glow over the table, and the gentle hum of other diners filling the space. Stephen's girlfriend was feeling much better, looking radiant and full of life. Her eyes sparkled as she took in the restaurant and glanced shyly but eagerly at Ant and Dec.
As they settled in, Stephen reached out under the table, giving her hand a gentle squeeze, his thumb rubbing soothing circles along her knuckles. She shot him a grateful smile, and they shared a warm look that made Ant and Dec exchange an amused glance.
Throughout the meal, they laughed easily, Stephen's girlfriend leaning forward, totally engaged in Ant and Dec's stories, and throwing in her own witty remarks. Ant and Dec found themselves charmed by her quick humour and her easy warmth. When the waiter came by to refill their drinks, Stephen discreetly leaned closer to his girlfriend, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze as he asked, "Feeling okay, love?" She smiled, giving his hand a gentle squeeze back as if to say, More than okay.
Stephen's attentive glances didn't go unnoticed by Ant and Dec, who watched the couple with fondness. Every now and then, Stephen would reach over to brush a hand along her shoulder or tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, his touch gentle and protective. He would check her water glass, filling it up himself when it got low, his brow furrowing slightly as he made sure she was comfortable. It was clear he was watching over her closely, ensuring she was enjoying herself.
At one point, when she leaned in to laugh at one of Ant's jokes, Stephen instinctively reached across the table to gently touch her back, his hand resting there as a silent reassurance. Ant and Dec shared an almost imperceptible glance, noting how Stephen was always checking on her, his care evident in every little movement.
As they moved through their courses, laughter flowed easily between the four of them. The conversation was effortless, punctuated by shared smiles and soft looks from Stephen and his girlfriend, who seemed to feel completely at ease around Ant and Dec.
When dessert arrived-a shared platter of chocolate fondant, fruit sorbet, and crème brûlée-Stephen's girlfriend tried to sneak a spoonful, only for Stephen to playfully swat her hand. "Hey, that's mine!" he teased, feigning offence, though he quickly gave in with a grin and nudged the plate closer to her. "Alright, alright, take as much as you want," he said, pretending to be put upon, but his eyes held a warmth that made Ant and Dec exchange knowing looks.
Ant and Dec laughed, delighted by the back-and-forth between the couple. Watching the two of them, they already felt like she was a little sister, already part of their family. Stephen's girlfriend laughed too, her eyes shining with happiness, her hand resting on Stephen's shoulder as she leaned in close, making him smile proudly. Stephen, feeling protective and content, kept his hand resting on hers, never wanting to let her feel alone or out of place.
As they polished off the last bites, Ant leaned over to Stephen with a conspiratorial grin. "You've got yourself a keeper here, mate," he whispered, just loud enough for Stephen's girlfriend to catch, making her laugh and blush at the same time.
Stephen, beaming with pride, kept his hand wrapped around hers as they lingered, basking in the joy of good food and even better company. It was clear that, no matter where they were, Stephen would always be there for her, just as Ant and Dec were always there for him, solidifying the night as one of friendship, love, and unspoken promises of support.
