Ant and Dec arrived at Stephen's flat just as the sky began to glow with the soft colours of sunset. The week had been gruelling for all of them, but it had taken the heaviest toll on Stephen, whose quiet exhaustion was clear from the moment he opened the door. His smile was faint, and his shoulders slumped in a way that revealed just how weighed down he was.
"Hey, little one," Dec said warmly as he stepped inside, pulling Stephen into a hug that seemed to say more than words could. "We brought reinforcements."
Ant followed, flashing a reassuring grin as he held up a bag overflowing with snacks. "Hope you're ready for a whole lot of relaxation because we're not taking no for an answer."
Stephen tried to protest, glancing between them with a sheepish smile. "You guys really don't have to do this. I'm fine, I promise."
But Dec held him firmly, hands resting on his shoulders as he looked him over with gentle concern. "Not tonight, sweetheart," he said, his voice soft yet unwavering. "No managing, no doing, no 'I'm fine.' You're just going to sit back and let us take care of you, got it?"
Without giving him a chance to argue, Dec wrapped an arm around Stephen's shoulders and guided him over to the couch, where Ant was already settling in beside them. They both wrapped him up in an embrace, their warmth enveloping him as they eased him down between them.
Stephen's shoulders began to relax almost instinctively, the tension in his body slowly melting as Dec stroked his hair and Ant gently patted his knee. The quiet comfort of their presence filled the room, a soothing balm for the lingering stress he hadn't quite managed to shake.
"You don't need to do a single thing for the rest of the weekend," Dec said, giving him a gentle squeeze. "We're here to make sure of that."
Ant grinned as he slipped off Stephen's shoes, setting them aside before rolling up his sleeves. "Tonight's all about you, Stevie," he murmured, his thumbs pressing gently into the arches of Stephen's feet. "You don't have to worry about anything. Just let yourself relax."
The words, paired with the warmth of their hands, worked their way past Stephen's last defences, making it impossible to resist. He let out a soft sigh, sinking further back against Dec, who wrapped an arm around him, drawing him close and pressing a tender kiss to his temple.
"That's it, baby boy," Dec whispered, fingers tracing soothing circles over Stephen's shoulder. "Just breathe. We're here to remind you how adored you are, how safe you are with us."
Stephen's heart fluttered at the tenderness in Dec's voice, the way he said those words with such conviction. He tried to respond, to tell them he was fine, but as Ant continued his slow, deliberate massage on his feet, his words dissolved into a soft sigh. He hadn't felt this relaxed in ages.
"Honestly, I'm not even sure I remember how to relax," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.
"That's what we're here for, sweetheart," Dec murmured, stroking his thumb over Stephen's cheek before planting another kiss, this time on his forehead. "Just let us take care of you tonight."
As Ant worked his way up from Stephen's feet to his calves, his touch gentle yet firm, Dec's fingers eased the tension in his shoulders, kneading carefully over each knot that had formed from the week's stress. Stephen felt his eyelids grow heavier, his body melting into their hands, his resistance fading with each tender touch.
"You're always so busy looking after everyone else, Stevie," Ant said, his voice a soft murmur. "Always giving, always helping. But tonight, it's your turn to be taken care of. You're precious to us, you know that?"
The words settled over Stephen like a warm blanket, filling him with a gentle, unwavering sense of belonging. Ant's hands continued their soothing path up to his shoulders, where Dec joined him, their fingers working in perfect harmony to ease away the last bits of tension. Stephen tried to protest, to say they didn't need to do all this, but every time he opened his mouth, a sigh or a murmur of contentment escaped instead.
