Extra Affectionate

Ant and Dec spent the day in their usual whirlwind of work-rushing from meetings to rehearsals to filming sessions. But right from the start, something felt different. Ant seemed uncharacteristically affectionate, finding little excuses to pull Dec into quick, tender embraces.

Just before they walked onto set, Ant slung an arm around Dec's shoulders, hugging him close for a beat longer than usual. Dec blinked, surprised, and let out a soft laugh, glancing at Ant with a warm smile.

"Alright, you big softy," Dec teased. "What's all this for?"

Ant just grinned, giving him a small squeeze. "Just keeping us focused," he said with a playful shrug, deflecting the question as they headed onto the stage. Dec shook his head, still amused but feeling a little flutter of warmth in his chest.

The day went on, and Ant's affectionate streak didn't stop. During a lunch break, as they stood side by side, reading over their script, Ant casually slipped an arm around Dec, pulling him in close. Dec chuckled, his brows raising in curiosity.

"What's going on today, mate? You're in a hugging mood, aren't you?"

"Am I?" Ant replied innocently, his eyes twinkling. "Maybe you're just too irresistible." He quickly changed the subject, keeping Dec guessing, but his hand stayed on Dec's shoulder, giving a gentle squeeze now and then as they went over their lines.

Every so often, between scenes, Ant would brush Dec's arm or rest a hand on his back, giving Dec a warm, grounding touch. It became almost a game-Dec, half-laughing and half-baffled, would give him a look, only for Ant to smirk and shrug it off.

When they wrapped up filming and started heading to their next engagement, Ant surprised Dec again by wrapping him in a firm embrace. Dec tried to pull back with a laugh, shaking his head in amusement. "Ant, seriously-what's gotten into you today?"

Ant only shrugged, giving Dec's shoulder another affectionate squeeze. "Can't a guy show some love for his best mate?"

Dec let out a laugh, but he couldn't deny the warm, gentle feeling that was settling in his chest each time Ant wrapped him up. Ant's affection was like a little reminder throughout the day: I'm here, right beside you.

Finally, as the sun was setting and they'd made it through their packed schedule, they stood by the exit, ready to leave. Ant turned to Dec, wrapping him in another warm hug. This time, though, he held on a little tighter, resting his chin on Dec's shoulder.

Dec's smile softened as he leaned into the hug, the tenderness and warmth of the moment seeping through. "Alright, mate. Enough of these mystery hugs. What's really going on?"

Ant pulled back just enough to look at him, his usual playful expression softened by something much deeper. "Dec," he began, his voice a little rough, "I just... I just wanted to say thank you."

Dec's brow knitted in confusion, his eyes searching Ant's. "Thanks? For what?"

Ant swallowed, his voice quieter but sincere. "For everything. For being by my side all these years, for all the laughs and the support, for just... being you. I don't say it enough, but I love you, Dec. I really do. I can't imagine doing any of this with anyone else."

The teasing glint in Dec's eye faded, replaced by something deeper, warmer. He reached up, cupping the back of Ant's neck as he pulled him in for another hug-one that felt like it held years of memories, laughter, and late-night talks. "Oh, mate," Dec murmured, his voice soft. "You know I feel the same. You're not just my best friend, Ant. You're my brother."

They stayed like that, holding onto each other as the evening sun cast a warm glow around them. Neither wanted to break the embrace just yet, both quietly acknowledging the bond they shared. It was rare for them to put their feelings into words, but there was something powerful, almost sacred, about finally speaking it aloud.

After a long moment, they pulled back, their smiles filled with gratitude and understanding. As they headed out together, Dec felt a comforting warmth settle over him. He knew that whatever challenges the world might throw their way, they'd face it side by side-two best friends, brothers, with all the love and trust that had built between them over the years.
