The living room was softly lit, the gentle glow of a few table lamps casting a golden hue over the space. The faint hum of the heater in the background added to the cosy atmosphere. Ant and Stephen were nestled together at one end of the oversized sofa, a thick, knit blanket draped over their legs. Ant's arm was wrapped securely around Stephen's waist, his fingers lightly tracing soothing patterns on Stephen's side. Stephen, head resting on Ant's shoulder, let out a contented sigh, his focus half on the movie flickering on the screen and half on the comforting warmth of Ant's embrace.
Across the room, Dec sat perched at the far end of the sofa, legs stretched out and arms crossed over his chest. His lips pressed into a thin line as he shot them occasional glances, a spark of playfulness mingling with his faux annoyance. When neither Ant nor Stephen seemed to notice his exaggerated shifting, Dec huffed dramatically. Rising with deliberate effort, he crossed the room, his steps heavy and purposeful, and flopped onto the small, rarely-used love seat. With theatrical flair, he threw himself sideways, one arm draped dramatically over his eyes.
"Oh, woe is me," Dec declared, his voice carrying a mock melancholy. "Abandoned. Forgotten. Left out in the cold by my own boyfriends. Cast aside like-like an old remote control. I don't even have a blanket to keep me warm!"
Ant glanced at Stephen, his lips twitching with the effort to stifle a laugh. "Oh, for crying out loud," he muttered, giving Stephen a nudge.
Stephen giggled quietly, whispering back, "He's in full performance mode tonight."
Ant grinned. "Yup. Classic Dec."
Dec, undeterred by their lack of immediate reaction, pushed further. "Ridiculous, am I?" he exclaimed, sitting up sharply as though deeply insulted. "It's you two! Here I am, the loyal third wheel, left to suffer on my own! Freezing! Desolate! Bereft of affection!" He pressed a hand to his chest and cast his eyes dramatically to the ceiling. "Oh, cruel fate, why have you forsaken me?"
Ant shook his head, clearly amused. "Alright, Mr. Lonely Heart, we get it. You've made your point. Come back over here."
"No, no, no!" Dec retorted, crossing his arms and turning his head away with exaggerated indignation. "Don't trouble yourselves on my account. I'll just sit here in the wilderness, forgotten and unloved. Maybe the spare sofa will adopt me."
Stephen, now full-on giggling, whispered conspiratorially to Ant, "Should we do something about this?"
"Oh, absolutely," Ant replied, his grin taking on a mischievous edge. Together, they stood, the blanket falling to the floor as they moved in unison toward Dec like a pair of determined avengers.
Dec's eyes widened. "Wait-what are you doing? Don't you dare-" He didn't have time to finish before they pounced, squeezing onto the love seat with him. Stephen slid in on one side, and Ant pressed in on the other, effectively sandwiching him between them.
"What-no, wait! Help! I'm being suffocated by affection!" Dec squeaked, his protests half-hearted at best as he was overwhelmed by their onslaught of kisses. Ant peppered his cheeks with quick, playful pecks, while Stephen sneaked in ticklish kisses just below his ear.
"Oh, poor Dec, left all alone," Ant teased between bouts of laughter. "Whatever shall we do to make him feel loved?"
"Absolutely tragic," Stephen chimed in, his voice dripping with faux sympathy. "Guess we'll have to smother him with kisses until he feels better."
Dec squirmed and laughed helplessly, his giggles spilling out in waves as he tried to fend them off. "Alright, alright! I surrender!" he gasped, his cheeks flushed a brilliant red. "You win! I'm loved! I get it!"
Ant and Stephen finally eased up, though they stayed pressed close on either side of him. Ant reached out to tuck a wayward strand of hair behind Dec's ear, his touch lingering. "We love you, you ridiculous drama queen," he said softly, his voice filled with fondness.
Stephen leaned in to press a gentle kiss to Dec's temple, his lips curling into a smile. "More than anything," he murmured, his words carrying a quiet sincerity that made Dec's teasing pout dissolve into a genuine grin.
Dec's expression softened, and he wrapped an arm around each of them, pulling them closer. "I love you guys too," he said, his voice just as warm. Then, with a playful smirk, he added, "But don't think this means I'm letting you off the hook for ignoring me earlier."
Ant laughed, shaking his head as he reached for the blanket to drape over all three of them. "Noted. Next time, we'll drag you into the cuddle pile first."
"Deal," Stephen agreed, resting his head on Dec's shoulder with a contented sigh.
The three of them settled back into the love seat, their limbs tangling comfortably as the movie played on in the background. The world outside faded into insignificance as they shared their little cocoon of warmth and love, perfectly content in the glow of each other's presence.
