It was an ordinary Monday morning when Ant and Dec sat in their office, brainstorming new ideas for their next show. As the conversation drifted from work to their close friend Stephen, a playful challenge emerged between them.
"Let's see who can hug Stephen the most this week," Ant suggested with a mischievous grin.
Dec raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "You're on! But let's make it official. We'll keep track of our hugs and cuddles, and whoever wins gets to choose the movie for our next movie night."
With a handshake sealing their friendly competition, the two set out on their mission, their hearts light with anticipation. Throughout the week, Ant and Dec found themselves playfully vying for Stephen's attention, stealing moments to embrace him in gentle hugs and shower him with affection.
Stephen, meanwhile, was initially confused by the sudden surge of cuddles and kisses from both sides. At first, he thought it might be just their usual playful banter, but as the days passed, he began to suspect something was up. He smiled to himself, realising that he had unwittingly become the prize in their silly little competition.
As he walked past their office one afternoon, he noticed a notepad on the table, half-hidden beneath a pile of papers. Curiosity piqued, he peeked inside and discovered their tally of hugs, complete with doodles and silly notes. A smirk spread across his face; he had a plan.
The next day, as Ant and Dec were busy rehearsing for their upcoming show, Stephen decided to enact his little ruse. He took out his phone, pretending to be engaged in a conversation while they were outside his office, unaware of his scheme.
"Honestly, I don't know how to make them stop," he said into the phone, feigning annoyance. "It's like they think I'm some sort of cuddle magnet. I mean, I love them, but come on! They won't leave me alone!"
Just as he was about to continue his act, he heard the familiar voices of Ant and Dec approaching. With a quick glance in the mirror to ensure he looked convincingly annoyed, he opened the door with a dramatic flair, catching them off guard.
"Ugh, you two!" he exclaimed, folding his arms and trying to maintain a straight face.
In an instant, he pulled both of them into a tight embrace, planting kisses on their cheeks. Ant and Dec exchanged bewildered glances, their initial confusion morphing into slight hurt as they recalled his earlier words.
"Stephen, we didn't mean to annoy you," Dec said softly, his brow furrowing in concern.
But Stephen only laughed, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "I know about your little competition," he confessed, letting go of them. "And I decided to turn the tables on you."
They stared at him, both incredulous and relieved as they processed his words. "What do you mean?" Ant asked, crossing his arms.
"I love all the cuddles, you know that," Stephen said, his voice warm and genuine. "But it was too good an opportunity to pass up! So I thought I'd act annoyed to see your reactions."
The initial hurt melted away, replaced by affection. Dec chuckled, scratching his head sheepishly. "So, you're not actually annoyed?"
"Not at all! I love you both and all the affection. You can cuddle me whenever you want," he said, grinning.
Ant and Dec exchanged victorious smiles, their competition suddenly seeming unimportant compared to Stephen's happiness. They pulled him in for another round of hugs, this time with even more enthusiasm.
"Well, it looks like we have a new rule," Ant said with a playful glint in his eye. "More hugs for everyone!"
With laughter echoing around the office, the three friends spent the rest of the afternoon basking in their affection for each other, a warm reminder that love, even in its playful forms, was what truly mattered.
