It was a sunny afternoon when Hurley's excited scratching echoed against Dec's front door. Ant leaned casually against the wall, arms crossed, a playful smirk dancing on his lips as he watched Dec approach the door. As the door swung open, Dec knelt down, a bright smile spreading across his face at the sight of his furry friend.

"Hey, Hurley!" Dec greeted, giving the golden retriever a gentle pat on the head. Hurley wagged his tail furiously, his eyes sparkling with joy. Ignoring Ant's presence, Dec turned and walked back into the house, calling over his shoulder, "Come on in, buddy! Let's get you some treats!"

Ant chuckled softly, knowing how Dec loved to spoil the dog. As he followed Dec inside, he spotted Rocky, Dec's other dog, lounging on the couch. "Don't think I forgot about you, Rocky!" Dec said, reaching into the treat jar and tossing a few treats on the floor. Rocky perked up instantly, lunging for the snacks with his usual enthusiasm.

With the dogs happily munching away, Ant took the opportunity to ask, "Hey, Dec, what do you say we take them for a walk? It's a nice day, and they could use some exercise."

Dec looked up, his eyes brightening at the idea. "Yeah, that sounds great! Let me just grab my shoes." He dashed to the hallway, while Ant began to gather the poo bags and leads, chuckling to himself at the prospect of a leisurely stroll.

Once Dec was ready, they stepped outside, the sun warming their skin as they clipped the leads around their shoulders, knowing they didn't need them just yet. The dogs sprinted ahead, eager to explore the neighbourhood, tails wagging in pure delight.

As they walked, Ant glanced over at Dec, feeling a sense of contentment wash over him. The two chatted easily, exchanging stories and laughter, but soon the conversation turned a bit more tender.

"Dec," Ant began, his tone shifting to something softer. "I just want to say how much our friendship means to me. You've always been there for me, and I love you for that."

Dec glanced at Ant, the warmth in his chest rising. He felt his eyes prick with emotion, a few tears threatening to spill as he took in Ant's earnest expression. "You mean the world to me too, mate," he replied, his voice slightly shaky. "I don't know what I'd do without you."

Moved by the moment, Dec pulled Ant into a tight embrace, feeling the comforting presence of his best friend. Ant wrapped his arms around Dec, holding him close, and Dec leaned in to plant a soft kiss on Ant's cheek, a gesture filled with all the affection and gratitude he felt.

As they stood there, surrounded by the joyful barks of Hurley and Rocky, Dec wiped away a stray tear, the bond between them feeling even stronger in that shared silence. After a moment, they pulled apart, both smiling through the lingering emotion.

"Alright, let's get these pups to the park!" Ant said, his spirits lifted. They resumed their walk, side by side, laughter ringing out as they shared more stories, the sun shining brightly above, illuminating their friendship with every step.
