Ant and Dec's Christmas Day began early, the morning filled with the warmth and laughter of family mingling together in Ant's home. The air was festive and cosy, with garlands draped over the mantelpiece and fairy lights casting a soft glow over the room. Daisy and Poppy were darting around, giggling as they eagerly showed off their new toys, while Dec's kids, Jack and Isla, joined in, creating a symphony of delighted squeals that filled every corner of the house.

Ant's partner Ali was bustling in the kitchen with Dec's wife, making sure everyone had something to snack on while preparing a feast for later. The whole family felt intertwined, like they'd always celebrated together this way. The parents chatted and sipped on mulled wine, while Ant and Dec shared amused glances across the room, savouring the joy that only a day like this could bring.

As evening settled in and their families began to tire, Ant nudged Dec, gesturing towards the door. "Fancy a walk, mate?"

Dec's eyes lit up. "Thought you'd never ask."

They bundled up in coats and scarves and stepped out into the cold Newcastle night, leaving behind the warmth of the house and stepping into the crisp winter air. Their breath fogged up in front of them as they strolled through the quiet streets, wrapped in the peacefulness of the city on Christmas night.

They walked in silence for a while, side by side, until they reached the bridge overlooking the Tyne. The view was breathtaking, with the lights of Newcastle casting shimmering reflections on the river below. Ant leaned on the railing, glancing over at Dec with a smile that spoke of years of shared memories.

"Remember when we used to hang out here after school?" Ant said softly. "We'd talk about all the things we were going to do, all the shows we'd host one day."

Dec chuckled, the memories flooding back. "And none of it was quite how we imagined, was it? But it turned out better somehow."

They continued walking, weaving through quiet streets and pointing out places that had once held their dreams, each memory unfolding like pages in a cherished book. They laughed about the time they'd had their first pint together in a local pub, and Dec remembered Ant's terrible attempts at flirting back in the day. Ant defended himself with a playful shove, making them both laugh even harder.

Eventually, they reached a grassy banking on the edge of town, where they could overlook the lights of Newcastle and the stars above. Settling down, they sat in comfortable silence, just watching the city they loved so much. After a while, the faint sound of fireworks echoed in the distance, their colours lighting up the night sky in bursts of red, blue, and gold.

Ant reached into his pocket, pulling out a small, wrapped box. He hesitated for a moment, glancing over at Dec with a slightly sheepish grin. "I, uh, got you something."

Dec raised his eyebrows, surprised but clearly touched. "You didn't have to, mate."

"I know. Just wanted to, though."

Dec took the box and carefully unwrapped it, revealing a sleek, elegant watch with a dark, polished face. He let out a low whistle, eyes wide. "Ant... it's beautiful. I don't know what to say."

Ant shrugged, his grin widening. "Just wanted you to have something to remember this year by, you know? All those years we've spent together... they mean a lot, Dec."

Dec looked at the watch for a long moment before leaning over and wrapping Ant in a hug. When they pulled apart, Dec reached into his own pocket, producing a tiny box. "Funny you should say that," he said softly, handing it to Ant. "Because I got you something too."

Ant opened the box, revealing a delicate silver necklace with a small, subtle charm that caught the light beautifully. His eyes softened as he held it up, admiring the dainty piece.

"It reminded me of you," Dec said, a bit shyly. "Something small but something you can keep close to you. To remember all of this, all that we've done together."

Ant looked at the necklace, then at Dec, his expression filled with gratitude. "I love it, Dec. Thank you."

They both sat quietly after that, the night stretching around them, each lost in thought but completely content in each other's presence. The last of the fireworks faded, and Ant and Dec found themselves just sitting together under the stars, the glow of Newcastle below them. It was a simple moment, but one filled with a lifetime of memories and friendship that needed no words.

After a while, Dec leaned back, glancing over at Ant with a smile. "Here's to another year of memories, mate."

Ant grinned back, giving Dec's shoulder a playful nudge. "And plenty more to come."
