Ant and Dec were in the middle of their show, energy high, laughter filling the air as they delivered their usual blend of banter and charm. But as Dec turned to sprint toward the next part of the set, his foot caught on a loose cable. Before anyone could react, he went down, hitting the floor with a dramatic thud. The crowd gasped, and Ant was by his side in a heartbeat, laughing but clearly concerned.
"Guess you're just trying to steal the spotlight, huh, Dec?" Ant teased, trying to mask his worry. Dec managed a chuckle, wincing as he tried to sit up, his hand pressed against his bruised knee.
Backstage, Ant helped Dec get comfortable on the couch, insisting that he stay put while he took care of everything.
"I'm fine, really," Dec insisted, though his wince said otherwise.
"Nonsense," Ant replied, fussing over him with a big grin. "You're under my care now, so you're gonna have to sit tight and let me be the charming nurse you've always dreamed of!"
Dec rolled his eyes but smiled, grateful to have Ant by his side. Ant reappeared with a bottle of water and a snack, making a grand show of handing them over.
"Here you go, mate. Now, let me show you how it's done," Ant said, striking an exaggerated pose. "This is what happens when someone doesn't trip over cables!"
"Oi!" Dec shot back, laughing. "You better watch it, or I'll pull you down with me next time!"
Over the next few days, Ant made it his mission to ensure Dec was as comfortable as possible. He would arrive every morning with breakfast and a fresh cup of tea, refusing to let Dec lift a finger.
"You're starting to enjoy this a bit too much," Dec mumbled as Ant brought over a hot water bottle and a blanket, arranging it neatly over his lap.
Ant grinned. "Mate, I'm just doing what I do best - looking after you. Besides," he added, giving Dec a playful nudge, "it's not often I get to see you looking this helpless. Gotta savour it while I can!"
Dec groaned but couldn't stop smiling. "Well, you're not half bad at it, I'll give you that."
Ant winked, leaning back with a smug expression. "See? I told you, Dec. Falling flat on your face wasn't so bad after all."
The days passed with plenty of laughter, affectionate teasing, and every joke Ant could think of to keep Dec in high spirits. And by the end of the week, Dec was back on his feet, his bruised knee healed - but not without a newfound appreciation for his best friend's unwavering care.
