It had been a long day for Stephen, and by the time he wandered up to Ant and Dec's shared office, he was feeling worn out. His usual bright smile was a little dimmer, and there was a shy, hesitant look in his eyes. He leaned against the door frame, barely lifting his gaze as he softly cleared his throat.
Ant glanced up from his notes, a small frown creasing his forehead when he caught Stephen's expression. "Alright there, mate?" he asked gently, pushing his chair back and standing up.
Dec quickly noticed the shift as well, his eyes filling with warmth and concern. "Hey, Stevie," he murmured, moving over to Stephen with a gentle smile. "What's on your mind?"
Stephen swallowed, glancing between them. "I... well, I could use... a little... you know, just some..." He trailed off, cheeks reddening as he struggled to get the words out.
Ant stepped forward, his hand already reaching up to rest reassuringly on Stephen's shoulder. "Aw, mate, you just want some attention, don't you?" he asked softly, his voice full of warmth.
Stephen's face grew warmer, and he gave a tiny nod, looking down at his shoes. "Yeah... if that's alright."
Ant and Dec shared a knowing glance, their smiles widening as they both wrapped an arm around him, guiding him toward the plush sofa at the back of the room. "More than alright," Dec said softly. "Come on, let us take care of you."
They settled Stephen comfortably on the sofa, Ant gently tilting his head back against the cushions, while Dec tucked a soft throw blanket around him. Stephen felt a wave of relief wash over him as he melted into the softness, feeling their presence surround him.
Dec moved to the little kitchenette, gathering a few of Stephen's favourite snacks and a chilled bottle of water, while Ant settled beside him, gently rubbing his shoulder. "Long day?" he asked softly.
Stephen nodded, exhaling slowly. "Just a lot going on."
"That's alright, love," Ant said gently, brushing a comforting hand through Stephen's hair. "You're here with us now."
Dec returned, setting a small plate of biscuits and some crisps within reach, along with the water bottle. He handed it to Stephen, who took it gratefully, giving them both a small, appreciative smile. "Thank you."
"No need to thank us," Dec replied, his hand resting on Stephen's knee in a reassuring gesture. "Just relax. You're with us now, yeah?"
Stephen nodded again, feeling the warmth of their closeness start to soothe his weary spirit. Ant leaned closer, pressing a soft, comforting kiss to Stephen's forehead. "We're here for you, mate. Just lean back and take a breather."
The three of them stayed close, with Ant and Dec making sure Stephen had everything he needed. They spoke in quiet, gentle tones, sharing stories and lighthearted jokes to lift his spirits. Dec placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, and every so often, Ant would gently pat his knee or ruffle his hair, grounding him with their small gestures of affection.
After a while, Stephen set his snacks aside, sighing in contentment as he closed his eyes, letting the calm sink in. He felt Dec shift beside him, wrapping an arm around his shoulders and pulling him a bit closer. Ant, still beside him, leaned in to press a gentle kiss to his temple, murmuring, "You're doing great, Stevie."
Stephen opened his eyes, looking up at them both with a softer, more relaxed expression. "I don't know what I'd do without you two."
Ant chuckled softly, giving his shoulder a gentle squeeze. "Well, lucky for you, we're not going anywhere."
Dec nodded, rubbing Stephen's back in comforting circles. "You're family to us, Stephen. We'll always make sure you're alright."
Stephen closed his eyes again, sinking into the feeling of their closeness and warmth. In that moment, he knew they'd be there, whenever he needed them-arms open and hearts ready to hold him through anything. And that, he thought, was more than he could ever ask for.
