900 wordsTXT was in the middle of promoting their new comeback, running through a packed schedule of interviews, performances, and fan events. Taehyun had prepared himself for the busy days ahead, knowing the excitement but also the pressure that came with each appearance. He was usually good at managing his OCD, keeping it mostly hidden from the public, but today, the symptoms seemed harder to control.
In the green room before their interview, Taehyun tried his best to keep his thoughts in check. He felt the urge to touch his fingers in a certain pattern, to check his clothes for invisible dust, to ensure everything around him was perfectly aligned. But he reminded himself of the schedule, pushing down the intrusive thoughts that tugged at him.
The other members, familiar with his quiet routines, gave him space, offering encouraging glances without drawing attention to it. They knew Taehyun preferred to handle his OCD in his own way, and they always respected that.
As the interview began, the questions were light and fun. They laughed, shared stories about their comeback preparations, and hyped up their fans. But the longer it went on, the more Taehyun felt a rising discomfort. The interviewer's focus was on him, asking about his process and how he managed his responsibilities in the group. Normally, Taehyun was well-spoken, able to respond smoothly, but today, he found himself distracted, his mind torn between answering and the urge to perform the small, repetitive actions that kept his anxiety at bay.
He started lightly tapping his thumb against his fingers in a certain rhythm, something small that usually helped. But as the interview continued, he found himself going further, adjusting his posture, straightening the papers in front of him - little actions that, to anyone who didn't know him, might seem strange or overly meticulous.
Soobin, sitting beside him, noticed Taehyun's subtle shifts and reached over, giving his knee a reassuring squeeze under the table. It was a silent reminder that he wasn't alone, that he had support right there.
But then, the interviewer's gaze drifted to Taehyun's hands, pausing for a moment as they watched him fidget with the papers on the table, straightening them over and over. There was a slight look of curiosity, maybe even confusion, and Taehyun's heart sank. He hadn't realized how visible his actions had become. He could feel the heat rising in his cheeks, his mind scrambling to think of something to distract from the obvious signs of his OCD.
"Oh, Taehyun, you seem very particular about things," the interviewer said with a light laugh, not meaning anything by it but clearly intrigued. "Are you always this organized?"
Taehyun froze, every word feeling like a spotlight shining on something he'd tried so hard to keep private. He forced a smile, trying to laugh it off, but he felt exposed. His OCD had been a part of his life for so long, something he managed quietly without letting it interfere with TXT's image. But this small moment felt monumental, like a secret he'd guarded for years was suddenly laid bare.
Yeonjun, sensing Taehyun's discomfort, jumped in smoothly. "That's our Taehyun for you! He just wants everything to be perfect for MOA," he said, shooting Taehyun a reassuring look, shifting the topic back to the fans and their music.
The interviewer moved on, but Taehyun's heart was still pounding, the embarrassment lingering. The last thing he wanted was for fans to start speculating or for people to notice he had been struggling. He loved his fans deeply, but he wasn't ready to share this part of himself, not yet.
After the interview, as they made their way backstage, Beomgyu wrapped an arm around Taehyun's shoulders, pulling him close as they walked. "You did great, Taehyun. Don't worry about it."
Taehyun sighed, his hands still fidgeting slightly. "I tried so hard to control it, but... I think they noticed."
"It's okay if they noticed," Soobin said gently, his calm voice reassuring. "You don't have to be perfect all the time, Taehyun. You're allowed to have moments."
Taehyun shook his head. "I just don't want fans or anyone else to get the wrong idea. I'm not ready for them to know."
Yeonjun stepped forward, his expression serious but full of warmth. "Taehyun, whatever you're comfortable with, we'll support it. Fans might be curious, but they also respect us. And if they ever find out, they'll understand. They're here for you no matter what."
Taehyun looked at each of his members, feeling a wave of gratitude wash over him. The shame he'd felt earlier started to fade, replaced by a sense of relief that he didn't have to carry this alone. His members knew him, understood him, and cared for him in a way that was unconditional.
Later that evening, he caught snippets of fans talking online, some of them picking up on his actions during the interview. But rather than speculating, most of them simply wished him well, expressing their support. He smiled to himself, heart warmed by the kindness of MOA, who always seemed to sense when something was amiss but never pried beyond what he was willing to share.
Back in the dorms that night, Taehyun sat with the members, a quiet peace settling over them. He knew there would be other days like this, other moments where his OCD might slip through the carefully controlled facade he'd built. But with his members by his side, he felt that he wasn't alone.
