The recording studio at Pledis was normally a place of excitement—a space filled with music, laughter, and the quiet determination that fueled SEVENTEEN's relentless pursuit of perfection. But today, an unsettling tension lingered in the air.

Jun stood in the vocal booth, headphones clutched tightly in his hands. He had been looking forward to recording his parts, but now, as he tried to sing, his voice betrayed him. His throat felt raw, his head heavy, and each note he attempted wavered unsteadily.

"Alright, let's try it again from the top," Woozi said gently through the intercom, though concern was clear in his tone.

Jun swallowed hard and nodded, inhaling deeply before attempting the verse again. But it was no use. The melody slipped from his grasp, wrong notes tainting what should have been a seamless take. A cough broke through mid-line, and he clenched his jaw, frustration burning in his chest.

From behind the mixing console, Bumzu sighed, exchanging a glance with Woozi. It was clear to both of them—Jun wasn't going to be able to push through this.

Woozi pressed the intercom button. "Jun-ah... let's take a break."

"I'm fine," Jun said quickly, his voice hoarse but stubborn. "Just one more take."

Woozi hesitated. He could hear the frustration behind Jun's words, the desperation to get it right. But pushing him any further wouldn't help.

Before he could respond, the manager stepped into the room, arms crossed. "Jun, you're not in any condition to record today. We're going to have someone else do the guide track for now."

Jun stiffened. His fingers curled into fists at his sides. "I—I can do it. I just need a little more time."

Bumzu exhaled and leaned closer to the mic. "Jun, listen. It's not that we don't believe in you. We know you can do this. But right now, you're sick. Forcing yourself will only make it worse."

Jun looked down, his chest tightening. He knew they were right. He knew his voice wasn't cooperating, that no matter how much he willed it to work, his body was shutting down on him. But knowing that didn't make it any easier.

The other members sat in quiet concern, watching the scene unfold. Minghao, who had been watching Jun closely, finally spoke up. "Jun, stop pushing yourself like this. It's okay to rest."

Jun squeezed his eyes shut, shame creeping up his spine. Rest. It sounded so simple. But all he could think about was how everyone else was giving their all today while he was failing.

Woozi and Bumzu shared another uncertain glance. Neither of them wanted Jun to feel like he was being cast aside. But at the same time, letting him keep struggling wouldn't be fair either.

After a long silence, Woozi sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "Alright. Here's what we're going to do."

Jun looked up, eyes desperate.

"We'll have someone record the guide track today. Just a guide. You can record your official vocals once you feel better," Woozi said. His voice was firm, but his expression was soft. "We're not replacing you. We're just giving you time to get better."

Jun bit his lip, still torn between relief and guilt. But before he could protest again, Joshua raised a hand.

"I'll do it," he said. "I can record the guide for Jun's parts today."

"Hyung..." Jun whispered, his throat tight with emotion.

Joshua smiled gently. "It's no big deal. We just want you to rest."

Hoshi leaned over and nudged Jun's shoulder. "Yeah, and if you keep pushing yourself, we'll all be mad at you."

Seungkwan nodded. "Exactly. So just listen to Woozi and Bumzu for once, okay?"

Jun exhaled shakily. He still hated the idea of not being able to do his part today, but with the weight of everyone's concern pressing in on him, he finally gave in.

"...Okay," he murmured.

Woozi felt a pang of guilt at the defeated tone in Jun's voice, but at the same time, relief that he was finally letting himself rest.

Bumzu clapped his hands together, trying to lighten the mood. "Good. Now, let's get this session back on track."

As Joshua stepped into the booth, Jun sank into the couch, exhaustion settling in. He felt terrible—physically and emotionally. But as he listened to Joshua recording his parts, the guilt in his chest slowly began to ease.

Woozi sat down beside him and nudged his shoulder. "You'll come back and record when you're feeling better. And it'll sound perfect, just like always."

Jun glanced at him, then at Bumzu, who gave him a reassuring nod.

He let out a small, tired sigh and leaned back.

"...Yeah. I will."
