⚠️anxiety attack and overdose (accidental one)

Sunoo sat in the corner of his room, knees pulled tightly to his chest, hands shaking uncontrollably. His heartbeat pounded in his ears, each thump a reminder of the anxiety that refused to let go. His breaths were shallow and fast, his vision slightly blurred as his mind spiraled deeper into panic.

It had been getting worse. The stress of schedules, expectations, and the pressure to always appear cheerful had weighed on him for months. He had always been good at hiding his struggles behind a bright smile, but the mask was slipping, and he felt like he was drowning.

The other members had noticed—of course they had. He had been quieter, more withdrawn, but whenever they asked if he was okay, he simply nodded and told them he was tired.

But the truth was, he was exhausted.

Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. He had been struggling to sleep, and when he did, nightmares plagued his mind. He felt like he was disappointing everyone, like he wasn't strong enough to keep up with the group. The thoughts grew louder every day, and no matter how hard he tried to push them away, they clung to him, suffocating him.

He reached for the small bottle of pills on his nightstand. His anxiety medication usually helped, but tonight, it wasn't working. His hands trembled as he unscrewed the cap, pouring a dose into his palm. He swallowed the pills dry, waiting for the relief to come.

But it didn't.

His chest still felt tight, and his breathing was still erratic. His thoughts raced even faster. He needed it to stop. He needed everything to stop.

So he took another dose.

And then another.

He wasn't thinking anymore—he just needed the fear to go away. He just needed silence.

By the time Jungwon walked into his room, Sunoo was barely conscious.

Jungwon had come to check on Sunoo after noticing he hadn't joined the others for their usual late-night snacks. It wasn't like him to skip out on bonding time, especially not without at least saying he was too tired.

The moment he opened the door, his stomach dropped.

Sunoo was lying on the floor, his body unnaturally still, his breathing shallow. His skin was pale, his lips slightly parted, and the empty pill bottle lay beside him.

Jungwon's body moved before his mind could catch up.

"Sunoo!" His voice was sharp, filled with panic as he dropped to his knees beside his friend. He shook him gently, then harder when Sunoo didn't respond. His heart was racing as he fumbled for his phone, his fingers shaking as he dialed emergency services.

"I need an ambulance! My friend...he's not responding! I think he overdosed on his medication...please hurry!"

The operator was calm, instructing him on what to do while waiting for the paramedics, but Jungwon could barely process the words. His entire body was trembling as he pressed his hands against Sunoo's chest, beginning compressions.

One, two, three...

"Come on, Sunoo. Please," Jungwon whispered, his voice breaking.

The sound of footsteps rushing down the hall barely registered in his mind, but within moments, the rest of the members were there.

Jay gasped, covering his mouth with his hands, his eyes wide with fear. Jake and Heeseung rushed forward, their voices overlapping in panicked questions, but Jungwon couldn't answer.

Sunghoon grabbed Ni-ki, pulling him back before he could get too close. Ni-ki's face was pale, his hands clenched into fists at his sides.

None of them had ever seen Sunoo like this.

None of them had ever imagined they would.

The ambulance arrived quickly, but it felt like an eternity. The paramedics took over, moving swiftly and efficiently, but the sight of Sunoo lying so lifeless made it hard to breathe.

The ride to the hospital was silent except for the occasional sniffle from Ni-ki, who had his head buried in his hands. Jake kept his eyes fixed on his hands, as if trying to wake up from a nightmare. Heeseung's hand rested on Jungwon's shoulder, but he didn't say anything. There was nothing to say.

Hours passed in the hospital waiting room. The doctors had taken Sunoo in immediately, but they still had no news. The uncertainty was unbearable.

When the doctor finally came out, they all stood at once.

"He's stable," the doctor said, and the relief was immediate. "But he was very lucky. If you hadn't found him in time..."

Jungwon felt his chest tighten. He didn't want to think about what would have happened if he had checked on Sunoo just a few minutes later.

They were allowed to see him once he was moved to a private room.

Sunoo looked so small in the hospital bed. His face was still pale, dark circles beneath his eyes. An IV was attached to his arm, and the heart monitor beeped steadily beside him.

The room was silent for a long time. No one knew what to say.

Then, Sunghoon spoke.

"Why didn't you tell us?" His voice was quiet, almost broken.

Sunoo turned his head slightly, looking at them with tired eyes.

"I didn't want to bother you," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.

Jungwon clenched his fists. "Bother us? Sunoo, you almost..." His voice cracked, and he looked away, swallowing hard. "You're not a burden."

Sunoo's eyes filled with tears.

"I just... I didn't know how to ask for help," he admitted. "I thought I had to handle it alone."

Jake exhaled shakily, running a hand through his hair. "You don't. You never have to handle anything alone, Sunoo. We're here. We've always been here."

Ni-ki wiped his eyes with his sleeve. "You scared us," he murmured. "So much."

Sunoo's heart ached. He had spent so long trapped in his own mind, convinced that no one would understand, but looking at them now—at the raw pain in their eyes—he realized he had been wrong.

He wasn't alone.

He had never been alone.

Healing, Together

The days that followed were slow, but Sunoo began to feel a little lighter.

The members never left his side. They brought him snacks, blankets, and even played quiet music in his hospital room to make it feel less sterile.

Jungwon made sure he ate properly. Jay sat with him in comfortable silence, just being there. Sunghoon would check his temperature like an overprotective parent, while Ni-ki insisted on bringing him plushies from their dorm to make him feel at home.

They didn't push him to talk before he was ready, but when he finally did, they listened.

Really listened.

He told them about the pressure, the fear, the overwhelming feeling of never being good enough. And instead of dismissing him, they reminded him of all the reasons he was loved—not just as an idol, but as their friend, their brother.

"We'll get through this together," Heeseung promised, squeezing his hand.

Sunoo wasn't magically healed overnight, but for the first time in a long time, he believed that maybe—just maybe—things would get better.
