800 words.

The glow of the rehearsal studio lights buzzed faintly overhead as Sunoo leaned against the mirrored wall, his breath ragged. Sweat clung to his skin like a second layer, but it wasn't the usual post-practice fatigue. It was different—like the exhaustion had seeped deep into his bones.

He watched the other members finish the routine, their movements sharp and powerful. Normally, he'd be in the middle of them, giving 110%. But right now, his arms felt like they were made of lead, and a strange chill had settled in his fingertips.

"Sunoo?" Jake's voice broke through the haze. "You okay?"

Sunoo forced a smile, the one he'd perfected over years. "Yeah. Just a little tired."

Jake didn't look convinced, but he nodded slowly.

That night, Sunoo barely touched his dinner. He couldn't taste anything. Couldn't focus. He showered and went straight to bed, skipping the usual late-night jokes with Ni-ki or watching dramas with Heeseung. His body ached, his mind fogged with a dull fear he hadn't named yet.

Over the next few weeks, it got worse. The smallest things became hard—waking up, dancing, even smiling. His skin seemed duller in the mirror. His appetite vanished. He kept fainting, just for a second or two. At first, he brushed it off as overwork, but inside, he was scared.

During a filming break, he collapsed in the bathroom.

Jungwon found him. The leader's face went pale. "Sunoo, what's going on?" His voice was shaking.

"I don't know," Sunoo whispered. "I feel like I'm fading."

The hospital was quiet and cold. The tests felt endless. Blood draws. Scans. Questions he didn't know how to answer.

The doctor's voice was calm when she said it: Addison's disease.

A rare autoimmune condition. His adrenal glands weren't producing cortisol, the hormone that helped regulate energy, stress, blood pressure—everything. That's why he was so tired. That's why he kept collapsing. That's why even smiling had become a fight.

He'd need daily medication. Possibly emergency treatment in a crisis. He couldn't skip meals. He had to monitor stress—he had to rest.

It felt like the ground shifted under him.

"Can I still perform?" he asked, barely above a whisper.

The doctor gave him a long look. "Yes, but differently. You have to listen to your body. Or it will force you to."

Telling the members was like tearing open a wound.

They were gathered in the dorm living room. Heeseung sat on the floor, Ni-ki leaned on the couch arm, and Jay sat stiffly, his arms crossed like he was holding himself together.

"I have Addison's disease," Sunoo said, his voice trembling. "It's... serious. But it's treatable. I'm going to be okay. Just—different."

Silence.

Until Sunghoon's voice, low and raw: "Why didn't you tell us sooner?"

Sunoo looked down. "I didn't want to worry anyone."

Jake let out a shaky breath. "You fainted in front of us. Of course we were worried."

"We'll handle this," Jungwon said firmly, but his eyes were glistening. "Together."

Things changed.

Practice schedules were rearranged. He had a small kit with emergency meds in his bag at all times. They set alarms for his pills. There were quiet adjustments: Ni-ki would take his place during high-intensity moves when Sunoo looked pale. Jay carried an extra protein bar in case Sunoo forgot to eat.

But even with all the help, the struggle was still his.

Some days, he woke up and cried silently before facing the mirror. He hated feeling weak. Hated that his body didn't work like it used to. On performance days, he'd get anxious—what if he collapsed again? What if he ruined everything?

One night, Heeseung knocked gently on his bedroom door. "You're allowed to be tired, you know."

Sunoo didn't respond.

Heeseung sat next to him on the bed. "You shine the brightest when you're just being you. Not when you're perfect. Just... real."

Sunoo started to cry then. Heeseung didn't say anything else. He just stayed.

Months passed.

There were setbacks. A stage performance he had to leave early. A comeback where his energy was lower than usual. Online comments wondering if he was "lazy" or "not trying."

But there were also victories.

A fan meeting where he met someone with Addison's who said, "You gave me the strength to keep going."

A day when he completed a full dance set without feeling dizzy—and the members surprised him with confetti and milk tea.

A moment backstage, before a huge live show, when Jungwon looked at him and said, "No matter what happens out there—we're with you."

And when the lights came on, and the music started, Sunoo stepped forward—not as someone broken, but as someone brave.

Because even in the darkest moments, he still chose to shine.

And he always would.
