The noise was deafening. ENHYPEN had barely stepped into the arrival hall at Incheon Airport when the crowd of fans surged around them, cameras flashing and voices calling their names. Jay smiled as he waved, trying to make eye contact with as many fans as possible. It was their first trip back from overseas in months, and the support was both overwhelming and heartwarming.
But then, in the crowd's chaotic energy, Jay felt a sudden, sharp pressure in his side. For a second, he froze, not quite understanding what had happened. Then, pain flared, hot and blinding, stealing his breath.
Jay's hand instinctively moved to his side, where he felt a warm, sticky wetness beneath his fingers. Panic surged as he realized what had happened... he'd been stabbed.
The noise around him seemed to fade as he stumbled, the pain radiating through him. He clutched his side, trying to stay upright, but his vision blurred.
Nearby, Sunghoon noticed first, his eyes widening as he saw Jay's pale face and the way he clutched his side. "Jay!" he shouted, instantly grabbing the others' attention.
In an instant, the rest of the members noticed too. Heeseung moved first, wrapping an arm around Jay to keep him steady as the others formed a protective circle around him, blocking the view of the crowd as best they could. "Jay, hang in there," Heeseung whispered, his voice trembling but steady. "We're getting you out of here."
Jungwon called out to the staff nearby, his voice urgent. "He's hurt! We need help !"
With the help of their managers and security team, they managed to pull Jay away from the crowd and rush him toward a quiet corner away from the press and fans. Sunoo, pale with worry, pressed his jacket to Jay's side to help slow the bleeding, his hands shaking. "Just stay with us, okay? We're right here."
Jay nodded, though the pain was intense, his breaths shallow. He tried to reassure them with a faint smile. "I'm... I'm fine. Just a scratch," he managed, though his voice was weak.
Ni-ki's face was tense with worry as he pulled out his phone, dialing emergency services. The operator's voice was barely audible over the commotion around them, but Ni-ki spoke clearly, his voice steady even as fear filled his eyes. "We're at the airport. One of our members is hurt. He needs an ambulance right away."
The minutes felt like hours as they waited, every member staying close, murmuring words of comfort to Jay. Heeseung kept his hand on Jay's shoulder, trying to keep him grounded, while Jungwon stayed alert, keeping an eye on their surroundings, making sure they weren't disturbed.
When the ambulance finally arrived, the paramedics moved quickly, assessing Jay's wound before carefully helping him onto the stretcher. The members stayed close, reassuring him with gentle words and touches.
"Can we go with him?" Sunghoon asked one of the paramedics, his voice urgent.
They nodded, allowing Heeseung and Jungwon to ride along. The rest of the members watched as the ambulance doors closed, their expressions filled with worry. Their manager quickly arranged transportation so they could follow behind, no one willing to leave Jay's side for even a moment.
At the hospital, Jay received immediate treatment. The doctor reassured them all that the injury, while serious, hadn't hit any vital organs, and that with rest, he would make a full recovery. Relief washed over the members, their shoulders finally relaxing as they took turns sitting by Jay's bed, making sure he knew he wasn't alone.
As Jay woke up later that night, he found Heeseung and Jungwon sitting close by, and soon, the others joined as well, filling the room with warmth and relief. Jay looked around, taking in each of their faces, feeling a wave of gratitude so strong it nearly overwhelmed him.
"I'm sorry for scaring you," he said quietly, his voice still weak but steady.
Sunoo shook his head, his eyes bright with unshed tears. "Don't apologize. Just focus on getting better. We're just glad you're okay."
Jay managed a small smile, feeling strength in the warmth of their presence. "Thanks, guys. Really."
The room filled with soft laughter and quiet conversation as they stayed with him through the night, each one determined to keep him comfortable and safe. In their company, Jay felt his anxiety fade, replaced by a deep sense of comfort and gratitude.
No matter what they faced, Jay knew he had a team, a family, that would always be by his side, ready to protect him, just as he would for them. And as he drifted back to sleep, he knew he was safe, surrounded by the people who meant the world to him.
