900 words. It was another bustling day for ENHYPEN as they gathered on the set of EN-O'Clock. The room was alive with excitement, the members buzzing with anticipation. Today's episode was all about high-energy games: relay races, obstacle courses, and an intense game of dodgeball. Each member was ready to give their all — or so it seemed.
Jay, however, wasn't feeling his best. For the past two days, he'd been nursing what he thought was a mild cold. His body ached, his throat was sore, and a heavy fatigue clung to him. He convinced himself it was nothing serious. Popping a few painkillers before filming, he masked his discomfort with his signature smirk, determined not to slow the group down.
"Jay, are you good?" Sunghoon asked as they stretched. "You look kinda pale."
"I'm fine," Jay said, waving him off with a small grin. "Just tired. Don't worry."
The games began with the relay race. The room filled with laughter and cheers as the members sprinted and stumbled through the chaotic course. Jay pushed himself harder than usual, sweat pouring down his face as he passed the baton to Jake. His legs felt heavier with each lap, his vision blurring briefly, but he dismissed it, laughing along when he tripped over a hurdle.
"You sure you're okay?" Jungwon asked, eyeing Jay suspiciously during a quick water break.
"Just hot," Jay replied, brushing off the concern. "It's nothing."
Next was the obstacle course, and by this point, Jay was running on sheer willpower. His movements were slow, and he clung to the equipment for balance. Jungwon kept glancing back at him, worry etched on his face.
When it was finally time for dodgeball, the energy in the room hit a fever pitch. The members were dodging and throwing with unrelenting intensity, their shouts and laughter echoing off the walls. Jay, however, could barely keep up. His legs felt like jelly, and every step took monumental effort. No one seemed to notice, until Jake's throw accidentally grazed Jay's shoulder.
Jay stumbled, catching himself with a shaky grin. "All good!" he called hoarsely, his voice cracking.
"Hyung, are you sure..." Jake began, but before he could finish, Jay collapsed.
The room fell silent as Jay crumpled to the ground, his body limp.
"Jay!" Heeseung shouted, dashing to his side.
The members swarmed around him in a panic. Jungwon dropped to his knees, shaking Jay gently. "Hyung, wake up! What's wrong?"
Sunghoon touched Jay's forehead and recoiled. "He's burning up. He's been sick this whole time, hasn't he?"
"Why didn't he tell us?" Sunoo muttered, his voice trembling. He grabbed a towel from the nearby table and began dabbing Jay's face.
Jake hovered helplessly, guilt etched on his face. "I shouldn't have thrown so hard..."
"It's not your fault," Heeseung reassured him, though his voice wavered. "We need a medic! now!"
The staff stepped in swiftly, one calling for medical help while others brought water and a portable fan. The members hovered anxiously, trying to keep Jay comfortable. Sunoo muttered soothing words under his breath as he adjusted Jay's position, and Jungwon held his hand tightly.
After what felt like hours, Jay stirred, his eyes fluttering open. "Guys...?" he croaked, his voice barely above a whisper.
"We're here, hyung," Ni-ki said softly, his usual teasing tone replaced with earnest concern.
Jay tried to sit up but winced, his body too weak. "I'm sorry," he murmured. "Didn't want to ruin filming..."
"Ruin?!" Heeseung exclaimed. "Hyung, you scared us half to death! You should've told us you weren't feeling well."
"You really think we care about some episode more than you?" Jungwon added, his tone firm but gentle. "We're a team, Jay. You don't have to hide stuff like this."
The medic arrived shortly after and conducted a quick assessment. "He's running a high fever and showing signs of exhaustion," they explained. "It's likely a viral infection, he needs rest and hydration immediately. If his symptoms persist, he should see a doctor."
Jay was moved to a quiet resting area off-set, where the members surrounded him like protective sentinels. "You guys should keep filming," Jay mumbled as he lay on the couch, his voice raspy.
"No way," Jungwon said firmly, crossing his arms. "We're not finishing without you."
"Yeah," Ni-ki chimed in, attempting to lighten the mood. "Who's going to keep us in check if you're not here?"
Jay managed a weak smile, the corners of his mouth twitching. "You guys are too much."
For the rest of the day, the members took turns watching over him. Sunghoon carefully helped him drink water, while Sunoo adjusted his blanket every few minutes. Jake sat beside him, quietly apologizing even though everyone told him it wasn't his fault. Heeseung and Jungwon spoke with the staff to reschedule filming, insisting Jay's health came first.
By evening, Jay's fever began to subside. Though still pale, he was able to sit up, looking at his members with gratitude. "You didn't have to stop everything for me."
"Of course we did," Heeseung said, ruffling Jay's hair affectionately. "You're our Jay-hyung."
"Next time, don't try to tough it out alone," Jungwon added, his voice soft but
insistent. "Promise?"
"Promise," Jay replied, his smile growing as warmth filled his chest. "Thanks, guys."
The next morning, Jay was feeling much better. The group resumed filming, with Jay sitting on the sidelines as a commentator. His sharp wit and playful remarks brought laughter back to the set, and the members felt a renewed sense of camaraderie.
As chaos unfolded once more in their games, Jay watched with a light heart, knowing that no challenge was greater than the bond they shared as a team.
