It was well past midnight when Seventeen finally wrapped up practice. The studio was nearly silent, save for the faint hum of the lights and the shuffling footsteps of exhausted bodies. They had been rehearsing nonstop for weeks, working on a new routine that seemed to demand everything they had. With each practice, the members pushed themselves harder, knowing that in the competitive world of K-pop, perfection was their only option.

Mingyu leaned against the mirror, wiping sweat from his face as he caught his breath. His whole body ached, but the adrenaline of performing always drove him forward, even when he knew he should stop. He glanced around at his members. Despite their exhaustion, they all shared the same determination—an unspoken commitment to give everything to this moment.

But as they went through the choreography one last time, Mingyu's body finally reached its limit. His vision blurred slightly as he leapt into the air, his concentration slipping for a fraction of a second. When he came down, his foot landed awkwardly, twisting sharply beneath him.

A sharp, burning pain shot through his ankle, and he staggered, his weight giving out. Mingyu gritted his teeth, biting back a groan as he tried to stay upright. The pain was intense, throbbing with each pulse of his heartbeat, but he didn't want to worry anyone or bring the practice to a halt.

Jeonghan noticed first, his gaze snapping over to Mingyu. "Mingyu, you okay?" he asked, concern evident in his eyes. The other members quickly turned, gathering around him.

"Yeah, it's... it's nothing," Mingyu said, forcing a smile. "Just a little stumble."

But Hoshi wasn't convinced. "Are you sure? That didn't look like nothing," he said, eyeing Mingyu's foot as he tried to mask his limp.

Mingyu brushed it off, waving a hand. "I'm fine, really. Let's keep going. We can't afford to fall behind."

The other members exchanged worried glances but reluctantly agreed to finish the session. For the next few minutes, Mingyu tried to keep up, fighting through the pain, but each step sent a fresh jolt through his ankle. Finally, S.Coups called it a night, insisting they all needed rest.

Back at the dorm, Mingyu tried to hide his limp as he made his way to his room. But once the door was shut, he let himself sink down, gingerly propping his swollen ankle on a pillow. The pain was sharp and unyielding, reminding him that this injury wasn't going to just go away.

Lying there in the quiet of the dorm, his thoughts drifted. The reality of their journey, the endless challenges and setbacks, pressed on his mind. They were still at the beginning, with so much yet to prove, and every misstep felt like a blow to their dreams. The weight of it was suffocating.

Finally, exhaustion overtook him, pulling him into a restless sleep. Mingyu didn't know that tonight, in the haze of sleep and dreams, he would glimpse something unexpected—a world that would feel as real as his deepest hopes.

Mingyu wakes up the next morning to the faint hum of voices outside his room. His first thought is of his ankle, but when he flexes his foot, expecting the usual sting of pain, he feels nothing. Confused, he moves his ankle a little more, testing it. He stands up, putting his full weight on it, and there's no pain—it feels completely healed.

He's relieved but puzzled. The memory of last night's pain feels so vivid, yet now he's walking perfectly fine. Shaking off the strange feeling, he makes his way toward the dorm's main room, where laughter and the sound of clinking mugs drift through the hallway.
