The practice room was quiet except for the hum of the air conditioner and the sound of Sunghoon's skates scraping against the smooth floor. They were rehearsing for a performance that involved skating—a concept that had fans excited and Sunghoon dreading every second.

He moved gracefully, as always, a picture of elegance and poise. But beneath that perfection was a sharp ache in his shoulder, a bruise blooming across his ribs, and a tightness in his throat he couldn't swallow down. The others were in the lounge, taking a break. Sunghoon had told them he wanted to practice alone. It was easier that way.

Less chance they'd notice.

Less chance they'd ask questions.

"Faster," Manager Kang's voice cut through the silence like a whip. "You're sloppy."

Sunghoon flinched as Kang stepped into the room, arms crossed, gaze cold. "Again."

He obeyed, pushing off into a spin. Pain tore through his side, but he didn't stop. Stopping meant punishment. Stopping meant Kang grabbing his arm too tightly again, speaking in that low, furious voice that made him feel like a failure.

When he stumbled slightly on the landing, Kang's jaw tightened.

"Pathetic," he hissed, walking closer. "You think this is enough? You're dragging the whole group down."

Sunghoon looked down, heart thudding. "I'll do better."

"You better," Kang muttered, brushing past him. "Or I'll make sure your precious face won't be camera-ready next time."

The door slammed behind him.

Sunghoon exhaled shakily and dropped to his knees. The pressure was unbearable, and the bruises weren't healing fast enough. He wanted to scream, but no sound came out. He wrapped his arms around himself and sat there, frozen.

The changes started out small.

Sunghoon started skipping meals, saying he wasn't hungry. He flinched more often—especially when someone raised their voice, even jokingly. He laughed less. Smiled less.

Heeseung noticed first, in the way Sunghoon hesitated before entering a room, the way he seemed to shrink when Manager Kang walked by. But he said nothing at first. Everyone was stressed. Comebacks were always exhausting.

Then one night, Heeseung walked into the bathroom and found Sunghoon washing blood off his lip.

"Hyung," Sunghoon started, startled, trying to hide his face. "I—it's nothing. I fell. Practicing."

Heeseung didn't believe him. "Did Kang do that to you?"

Sunghoon froze.

"Sunghoon."

"No," he lied too quickly. "No, I told you. I fell."

Heeseung didn't press—Sunghoon's walls were up—but the seed of suspicion had been planted.

It was Jay who finally snapped.

They were in the van, heading back from a long schedule. Manager Kang was driving. Sunghoon was sitting silently in the back, his posture too stiff. Jay saw Kang glance in the mirror, scowling, and say sharply, "Sit up properly. Are you trying to look pathetic on camera?"

Sunghoon immediately straightened, jaw clenched.

Something clicked in Jay's mind.

"Don't talk to him like that," Jay said, voice cold.
