It started innocently enough – or so it seemed. The girl had been lingering at fan events, her gaze always following Felix like a shadow. Over the past few weeks, her fixation had grown darker, her presence more persistent. None of the members noticed her trailing them, not when they were caught up in their whirlwind schedules and practice sessions.
But she noticed everything.
She noticed the way Felix smiled at fans during concerts, the way his freckles lit up under stage lights, and the way he seemed to pour his heart into every performance. What she couldn't notice – or refused to – was that Felix's smiles were for everyone. Not just her.
Her jealousy festered.
That evening was supposed to be like any other: a rare quiet night at the dorm, the members unwinding after a long day. Hyunjin was the first to hear the doorbell. Thinking it was one of the managers or perhaps a delivery, he strolled to the door, calling over his shoulder, "I'll get it!"
Felix was in the hallway, adjusting his hoodie and laughing softly at something Jeongin had said a moment earlier. Minho was nearby, his attention divided between their conversation and his phone.
Hyunjin swung the door open, but before he could process the figure standing there, everything happened in a blur.
The girl shoved him, hard. The unexpected force sent him stumbling backward, slamming his back into the doorknob. He hissed in pain, his hand instinctively flying to the sharp ache spreading across his spine.
"Hyunjin, what the..." Felix's words were cut off as he turned to face the intruder.
She stood there, trembling but determined, her eyes wild and filled with a manic mix of adoration and fury. Her hand shook as she pulled a gun from her coat, the cold metal glinting under the hallway light.
"If I can't have you," she said, her voice eerily calm despite the chaos in her gaze, "no one can."
The words sent a chill down Felix's spine.
Before Felix could react, before Hyunjin could fully recover from the shock and pain, she aimed the gun and pulled the trigger. The deafening sound of the shot echoed through the dorm.
Hyunjin, moving on pure instinct, lunged forward. His shoulder hit her hard, throwing off her aim just enough. The bullet meant for Felix's head struck his stomach instead.
Felix's eyes widened as the impact sent him stumbling back, a sharp gasp escaping his lips. He crumpled to the ground, his hands instinctively clutching his abdomen as blood spread across his hoodie.
The sound of the gunshot brought the other members running.
"Felix!" Chan's panicked voice rang out as he sprinted toward the scene, followed closely by Changbin, Han, and Seungmin. Minho and Jeongin, closest to the stairs, exchanged a glance before rushing down to ensure the emergency responders could reach the dorm without delay.
Hyunjin, gritting his teeth through the pain in his back, wrestled the girl to the ground. "Get the gun!" he shouted.
Seungmin was already moving. He snatched the weapon from her grasp, his expression cold and unyielding as he secured it out of her reach. Together, he and Hyunjin managed to tie her wrists with a belt from a nearby rack, keeping her subdued.
Meanwhile, Chan dropped to his knees beside Felix. "Stay with me, Lix," he said, his voice steady despite the fear in his eyes.
Jeongin and Minho's voices could be heard from downstairs, guiding the paramedics and police up to the dorm. Jeongin sprinted back up to check on Felix, while Minho stayed by the building entrance to ensure the responders had clear access.
Back upstairs, Han knelt beside Felix, his hands trembling as he helped Chan press firmly on the wound to slow the bleeding. "Felix, don't close your eyes. Please," Han begged, his usual playful demeanor shattered.
"I'm... trying," Felix whispered, his voice weak but filled with warmth."We're here," Chan reassured him, brushing his hair back. "Help's coming."
The moments stretched into eternity, the room a chaotic mix of panic and determination. Despite their fear, the members moved like a well-oiled machine, each taking on a role to protect Felix and ensure his survival.
When the paramedics arrived, guided upstairs by Jeongin and Minho, they quickly assessed Felix's condition, loading him onto a stretcher. The girl, still thrashing and screaming, was taken into custody by the police, her cries of "He's mine!" fading as they dragged her away.
The members stayed behind, answering the officers' questions as quickly as possible. Though their hands were still trembling and their minds were clouded with worry, they cooperated, determined to get to the hospital as soon as they could.
Hours later, they finally arrived at the hospital.
"Bang Chan? Lee Felix's group?" the nurse called out as they approached the front desk.
"That's us," Chan said, stepping forward. His voice was hoarse, his face pale."He's out of surgery," the nurse said with a reassuring smile. "He's stable. You can see him now."
The wave of relief that washed over them was almost overwhelming.
Felix was pale, but his breathing was steady, and his freckles stood out starkly against his skin. The members crowded into his hospital room, their presence filling the sterile space with warmth and life.
"Hey, sunshine," Hyunjin said softly, his voice filled with a tenderness that made Felix's lips twitch into a faint smile.
"Hyung..." Felix murmured, his voice weak but laced with affection.
"You scared us, Lixie," Changbin said, his usual bravado cracking as he sat at the edge of the bed.
"You're stuck with us for a while, so don't pull this again," Han joked, though the tears in his eyes betrayed his true feelings.
Felix looked around at his members, his family, and despite the pain in his stomach, he felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude.
"Thanks... for saving me," he whispered, his gaze settling on Hyunjin.
Hyunjin shook his head, a small smile tugging at his lips. "We've got you, Lix. Always."
As the members settled around him, their voices a comforting hum of reassurances and lighthearted teasing, Felix drifted off into a peaceful sleep, surrounded by the people who loved him most.
And though the night had been a nightmare, the warmth in that room was a reminder of just how strong their bond was – a bond that no fear or darkness could ever break.
