1900 words.
Rain misted gently over the rooftops of Seoul as the set lights flickered on for another late-night shoot. Hidden behind blackout curtains and hush-hush NDAs, the filming of "When Winter Ends" was in full swing. Niki adjusted the collar of his coat, the dramatic snow machine dusting his dark hair in artificial frost. Beside him, Felix leaned against the fake brick wall, silently mouthing his lines with focus.
Jun walked in the room already in character. Hueniengkai trailed behind, headphones still around his neck from their earlier OST recording session.
Their chemistry was effortless. Maybe too effortless.
Between shoots and studio sessions, the four had grown close in a way none of them expected. They joked like brothers, harmonized like seasoned bandmates, and supported one another through 16-hour days and back-to-back night shoots.
The producers begged them to keep the project under wraps. No posts, no hints, no leaked studio footage. Not until the official announcement.
But it wasn't the fans who were the problem.
"Hyung," Yeonjun had texted Kai just the night before. 'Why do you keep disappearing after practice? You're not dating, are you?'
Kai had almost dropped his phone.
Meanwhile, Niki had practically sprinted out of the HYBE building one day when he saw Heeseung heading toward the elevators.
Jun had resorted to calling their drama rehearsals "acting workshops for future endorsements." And Felix—poor Felix—was the worst liar of them all.
"Hyunjin almost caught me humming the chorus yesterday," he whispered now, glancing over at the others between takes. "I told him it was a new vocal warm-up. He didn't buy it."
Kai snorted. "We're going to get exposed by your vocal cords."
Niki grinned. "Nah. We'll get exposed when Seungkwan sees Jun hyung holding a script that doesn't belong to HYBE."
They all laughed—but there was a tension beneath the humor. The clock was ticking. One slip, one offhand comment, and the whole secret could unravel.
Still, the song was coming together. The drama was beautiful. But they were so busy.
The airport was a blur—flashes of cameras, muffled airport announcements, and the synchronized shuffle of black masks and hoodies moving through a sea of fans. Niki tugged his cap lower over his eyes, fingers wrapped around his phone like a lifeline. ENHYPEN was heading to Tokyo for a two-day concert. Right after landing, he'd have a three-hour rehearsal, a soundcheck, and two back-to-back performances.
And after that?
An overnight flight back to Seoul. Drama shoot call time: 6 a.m.
He didn't even want to think about it.
Across the globe—literally—Felix was in L.A. with Stray Kids doing interviews and prep for a late-night show appearance. During a stolen bathroom break, he had FaceTimed Jun and Kai from the stall, whispering like he was passing state secrets.
"I'm not sure I can get back in time for the studio session," he whispered urgently, hair half-styled and eyeliner smudged from the last photoshoot. "Bang Chan hyung's already suspicious."
Jun had waved off his concern, barely visible in the dim glow of his hotel room lamp. "Hyung thinks you're dating. It's fine. Just tell him it's long-distance."
Felix groaned. "That's worse!"
Meanwhile, Kai was in the dance studio, pretending to be asleep on the couch during TXT's break while secretly sketching lyrics on his phone. When Beomgyu peeked over his shoulder, he'd nearly thrown the phone across the room.
