Walking to Travis's front door, Taylor felt like coming home. The Eras Tour was over. She'd given it her all and now she was wrapped in his jacket, his arm around her. "Trav?", she mumbled tiredly when he helped her take off the jacket and shoes. "Yeah?", he turned toward her. "Can I... call this home?", she asked even though they both knew that she'd called this place home a few times now. Travis smiled. "Our place sounds right, don't you think?", he asked. Taylor's smile grew wider and she cuddled into his chest. He chuckled and hugged her tightly for a moment.
"I have your favorite foods ready to be heated up, if you like", he suggested. "And then a bath?", she joked because that was the exact after-show routine she'd followed for two years now. "If you want to. Bathroom is ready", he explained. "You're the best, baby", she yawned and so they got some food first. He had literally prepared everything she liked in case she wanted that now. Taylor chose some of it and happily snacked on different things. Travis sat next to her, ate some of the pasta, and was just glad that she was home now.
"I might fall asleep in the bathtub", Taylor admitted when Travis cleaned up the table. "I'll make sure you don't drown", he winked making her chuckle. But that turned out to be pretty much exactly what they did then. Travis sat behind her in the tub drawing patterns on her soft skin. He spotted some new bruises she probably got on stage or during practice, and some old scars he knew about, including their history. "I love you, sweetie", he whispered and kissed her head. Taylor didn't hear him because she had fallen asleep almost as soon as they had sat down. The scented candles made her feel so calm and at home.
After a while, Travis gently woke her up and helped her to quickly wash her hair before getting out of the tub. They did their nighttime routine even though the night was almost over by now. Travis helped her where he could, so Taylor could just relax as much as possible. She knew that she could let her guard down here, that he would take care of whatever she couldn't right now. He might've just played a whole football game too but her emotional turmoil regarding the end of her tour was what really made her tired. They both knew that he would probably have to help her with that over the next few days and weeks. She knew that from past tours and he had already told her that they would figure it out.
"Good night, baby", he whispered when they finally lay in bed. "G'night. Not sure how sleep will go", she said honestly. "Just try. Close your eyes, think of what you wanna do in a week or something. Wake me up if you want to. I don't mind, okay?", he assured her. She nodded and cuddled up to him. "Can I order stuff to your... our house?", she suddenly asked a few seconds later. He didn't really know what she thought of but agreed. "Urgh, now I think about every hobby I ever had and if I wanna try it again", she mumbled. Travis chuckled. "Should I tell you about the game day you missed?", he suggested. He'd talked her to sleep via phone a few times while she had been on tour. So that's what he did again. And as usual, it worked.
Around noon, Travis woke up feeling jet-lagged because of how long they had been awake. But he didn't care. He just looked down at her and hoped that Taylor would feel okay later. "Should I make breakfast?", he silently asked not expecting an answer. "Well... lunch?", he smiled after a look at the alarm clock next to the bed. "Mhhh", Taylor let out obviously waking up now. She stretched as much as she could without leaving his arms and he watched her face form a pained expression for a second before she sighed and cuddled closer again. "G'morning", she mumbled tiredly. "Morning, honey", he said cradling her head making her sigh again.
"How do you feel?", Travis wanted to know after a few minutes. "I don't know", Taylor mumbled. "Lot of thoughts", she added looking up at him as if looking for help. "Let's start easy then. Are you hungry?", he asked kindly. She thought for a moment, then nodded. "Think so, yeah", Taylor added yawning. "Okay. Do you want to get up and we go to the kitchen together?", Travis suggested, so she would start the day and not rot in bed. Because as much as she deserved it, he didn't want her to slip away into some kind of post-tour depression. At least not too deeply. "Everything hurts", she sighed and he knew that she was probably right. Especially because she left after the show and didn't do the usual routine immediately.
Travis ended up carrying her downstairs glad about the giggles that left her mouth while she clung to him. He made them some food but this time they ate on the couch. "Watch Friends today?", he suggested. "Sounds good" she agreed, so that's exactly what they did. "Can you grab my diary?", she asked pretty much right after the intro. "Sure, honey", he smiled and went to get what she had asked for. Taylor wasn't writing her diary daily at the moment. But if she had a lot going on, she often wrote down her thoughts to sort through them. By now, she trusted Travis to get it for her or even not read what she was writing when he was sitting right next to her. He just never made her feel bad about these things. There was never a reason not to trust him.
So, a few minutes later, she started writing, cuddled into his chest. Travis was kinda watching the show but also thinking about what light activities they could do over the next few days. She had asked him months ago to try to keep her a little busy when the tour would be over. Maybe he would ask Patrick and Britney to go out for dinner some time this week. He also still had to invite Taylor for her own birthday dinner that would then be his long-prepared party. Most of her friends would come, Selena and Tree were probably talking right now figuring out one of the few problems that were still left to solve. He smiled. Taylor would go crazy about all the cool little things they had planned. He almost couldn't wait for her to see it.
It's still a crazy thought that the tour is over and we will only have the movie(s) and documentary to look back on it.
I'm still sad that I never got to see it in person but I guess that's how life works sometimes.
