When Travis finally came to Sydney, they had been texting and talking on the phone every time they could. Travis had told her a lot about what had happened at the parade from his perspective and how bad he felt for his city. On the plane, he honestly felt a little relieved to get out of there for a bit but at the same time, he felt guilty for that. He hadn't lost someone and still, he didn't help the ones who did. Instead, he flew to his girlfriend not knowing how to handle the situation. Taylor was waiting for him in her hotel room. She was still worried after all these calls and just wanted to finally hug him.

So when the door opened and he came in, they just ran into each other's arms. He pressed her against his chest breathing in her scent. "I'm so glad to be here", he said and Taylor had a slight feeling that he might mean more than just the fact that he had missed her. "I'm so glad that you're here", she answered suddenly realizing again that he very well could never have been holding her again if the events had played out only a little differently. She held him tighter trying to hold her tears back. Taylor wanted to be strong for him but the thought of losing him to a stupid shooting terrified her and he felt her body starting to tremble. "Baby, I'm here now, it's okay", he told her bringing her to the bed and sitting down with her in his lap. "I know, it's just that... If you guys would've been out there at a slightly different time...", she mumbled breaking down a little more. He knew and he couldn't say anything to that because he had thought about it too. So he held her tight and couldn't hold back his own tears.

They needed a while to calm down but crying together had something freeing. "You were the first person I texted because I knew you'd be the first to get notified that something had happened and I...", he explained still sniffling. "Thank you", she interrupted him wiping her tears away. "I was so scared", she admitted. "When Tree said there had been a shooting... I just... We haven't even had a year together", she continued even though they had had a very similar conversation on the phone a few days ago. "I thought the same thing, Tay. When we sat there, dared to wait it out, I... I realized it could've been over. And I thought of Jason and Mom and Dad but... really, I just thought we haven't had enough time. I... I want to see so much with you and do so much!", he told her what he had said on the phone too. "I just think, I want forever with you", he added silently what had been his conclusion just now. She hiccuped in his arms looking at him in disbelief. "This isn't a proposal, but... I just wanted you to know that", he said. "I want that too, Trav. I... Forever sounds long but I'm not even scared, I just want to be with you forever", she answered now wiping his tears away with a soft smile. He cupped her cheeks too and kissed her.

Later, they had calmed down more and more. Travis sat on the little balcony while Taylor was getting ready to leave for the stadium. He still hadn't decided if he wanted to come with her to the concert tonight. "Trav, you can stay here if you want to", she noticed his face. He seemed really silent and sad and it hurt her. "I feel so bad that I just left them in Kansas", he admitted. She sat down next to him and put an arm around him. "I think it's okay to take some time for yourself. It's been hard for you too", she told him. "You don't need to come to see all the people party tonight if you don't want to but I think noone can be mad at you for wanting to leave the situation behind for a few days", Taylor continued while fondling his neck. "I just wanted to be with you", he mumbled looking over at her. "I know. And you don't need to feel bad, Trav. Your teammates are probably with their families too", she said. He sighed pulling her into a hug. "I think it might get my head off of it for a bit if I come with you tonight", he mentioned. "Okay. You can stay backstage if you want to or go there sometime in between. Whatever, okay? Just do what feels right for you", she answered. He nodded and soon enough it was time to leave.

Travis ended up really enjoying the concert and leaving his thoughts behind for a couple of hours. Pat had texted him that he was glad that Travis could be with Taylor now and that he had been worried the past few days. That helped Travis to feel better about leaving his city behind after everything that had happened. When Taylor came back from the stage, it felt like he truly was okay again. The events would stay in his head of course and there was a lot of work to do at home but for now, he was with her and they wanted to live their "forever".
