Roses

After the Coachella festival, Travis and Taylor had one day to drive back to LA and watch the tabloids and social media go crazy about all the clips taken at the festival. But then, Taylor had to go to practice for the new set for her tour. The new songs were still kept a secret but they had reorganized the rest of the set too. So Taylor was pretty excited and Travis couldn't wait for the day she would take him to practice with her. He knew that there would be a new part with songs from the new album but she hadn't told him which songs she was going to play. Today, he had some calls though and went for a run on her treadmill. Then, he had some time to think about dinner. She had been cooking for him when he had had practice and she had had time, so he wanted to give that back. Cooking wasn't his strong suit though and he googled for a while until he found something that he thought would be easy enough and also possible with what she had in her fridge.

"I'm home!", he heard a sing-sang coming from the entryway later. Smiling because the food was almost ready and didn't look too bad, he went to greet her with a hug and a kiss. "Hi, how was practice?", he asked. "Oh, it's so fun! I think we did the right thing. The new order is working so well!", she told him following him to the kitchen. "Wow, I thought I smelled food but I didn't think you'd cook", Taylor admitted noticing the pots on the stove. "I tried. You made me dinner so much when you were at my place. It's not gonna be that good but I didn't want you to have to do it yourself", he said and gave her two plates, so they could set the table together.

The next few days went on similar to this one. Taylor cooked dinner sometimes or they ordered something but they cuddled in the evening and went to bed together. Taylor had a small release party planned when her new album would come out though. Jack and Aaron had time. Jack would bring his wife and a couple of friends would be there too. Travis was excited to help her prepare everything and he also ordered a bouquet of white roses to surprise her. They were also planning to watch the first music video together and Travis was really curious about that because he had seen her mood board ages ago and even had accompanied her to some part of the shooting.

Aaron was the first one to arrive then and Travis knew that Aaron must have heard a lot about him because Taylor had written "So High School" with him. The man seemed pretty cool though and when Jack arrived with his wife, the three album collaborators immediately looked very comfortable around each other. Jack was joking around a lot and Travis found him to be almost as hilarious as Taylor. They definitely shared the same humor. Aaron balanced the conversation with calmer topics quite perfectly and Taylor's other friends joined the party a little later making it only more fun.

Taylor watched with heart eyes as Travis took the host role to her side and helped her with drinks and food. "It's cool that you have time today", Aaron told him when he took another glass from him. "It's an important day", he just smiled and sat down next to Taylor again. She wasn't even looking at him, so caught up in a conversation with Jack, but her hand still found his and he held it tightly. Right at midnight, they started the album. "God, he's so cool!", Selena beamed after hearing Post Melone on the record. Taylor nodded. "It's a shame that he can't be here today. We had a great time working together", she said.

As sad as the album was, everyone loved it and they had a good time crying together. With her friend's tears, Taylor had to shed a couple too. But Selena and Blake hugged her and they whispered some things into each other's ears. Blake then waved behind Taylor's back to Travis that he should come over and of course he did. "Allie", he touched her shoulder. Taylor smiled at him wiping her tears away and leaving Selena's hug only to disappear in his arms next. "Allie?", Blake questioned confused making the couple blush a little. "From Alison", Taylor explained silently. Her friends smiled.

The night went on pretty emotionally but Taylor was happy when "The Alchemy" played and later "So High School". Everyone could see how happy she was and Travis' proud smile was just as telling. After "The Manuscript" had played out everyone besides Jack, Aaron, and Travis was still surprised about the double album, and a collective sigh of relief was going through the room. "It's a masterpiece!", Selena was the first to find words. "Not that we expected anything less", she added with a grin. Hugs and compliments were shared and when the first thoughts were talked through, Taylor wanted to share the video of "Fortnight".

They all took a seat around the TV and Travis pulled her against his chest leaning against the couch. The video started and they all were speechless once more. "It's so pretty", Blake whispered to herself. Selena nodded next to her. "Still disturbing", Travis mumbled when he saw the pill she took in the video. Taylor giggled about him and kissed his cheek. "God, that dress!" "The face tatts!" "Ethan Hawk?!" "Why the dog?" and other things were said and as soon as it was over they all screamed to watch it again making Taylor laugh. "You're an incredible director too", Aaron said even though he knew that before. "Thanks", she smiled.

They ended up watching it a third time. "You like being tied to a bed?", Travis whispered with a grin. Taylor looked at him with wide eyes but was not able to hold a cheeky grin back for long. He chuckled and kissed her quickly. "Fuck me with our hands tied, hands tied", he sang silently into her ear making her laugh loudly. "Sorry", she said noticing all the eyes on her. "We wanna laugh too!", Selena said. "No chance!", she immediately denied any answer making Travis chuckle. The others shook their heads and watched the rest of the video.

"And now that we all got a reminder of how great you are...", Travis started and went to get the roses he had prepared hidden in a cupboard. When she spotted them, Taylor instantly smiled and almost teared up a little. "It's not a proposal!", he quickly said after noticing Blake's face but Taylor knew that somehow and just chuckled with a big smile. "They're so pretty", she said taking the bouquet from him. "Pretty flowers for my pretty girl", he joked making the others sigh with smiles on their faces. Taylor just hugged him tightly. "I love you so much", she mumbled. "I love you too", he wasn't scared of saying it loud enough for everyone to hear. "Our turn now!", Jack interrupted them after a moment making everyone laugh. Taylor turned to her producers with the roses in her hands. They had, together with her friends, gotten a retro record player for her. She was just happy and thanked everyone with a hug before finding her spot at Travis' side again.

A couple more drinks and talks went by. They had some quick looks at the reactions online but then the guests left and the couple went to bed. "These roses are seriously so beautiful", Taylor still hadn't forgotten about his present. "I think this record player is pretty damn cool too", he noted. "But... the one rose for the announcement and a whole bouquet now? You're so cute", she didn't let go making him chuckle. She was definitely tipsy. "I'm unpacking my best romantic knowledge here", he mumbled just as tipsy. Taylor just sighed and cuddled closer to his chest before closing her eyes to fall asleep soon.
