Cat flipped through the book, wistfully admiring her drawings. The same blue eyes had graced every piece of art she'd done up to the present. She couldn't help it. They haunted her dreams, embedded in her subconscious. Of course, when she was little, she'd told people of the strange young man she'd met one night. The end result had been to send her to a psychiatrist when she hadn't given up on insisting he was real. After a long time of so many people insisting he wasn't real, that he was imaginary, she had begun to believe it. Mum called him an imaginary friend, step-dad said dream, and psychiatrist called it 'her minds way of coping with her previous trauma.' Now he only existed in her mind, as a character in her daydreams, never to be shared.
"I GOT IT!"
The shout came from the den. Cat chucked the book haphazardly under the bed and raced to the den. Harry was smiling proudly, the letter in his hand. He grinned at the assembled group. "I got the answer, its Library!"
Lindsay rolled her eyes. "Oh, well done, doofus, there's no libraries near here."
"Yes there is. Well, was."
Everyone looked at Cat. "What? There was! You know, beneath the clock tower, but it caught fire twenty years ago. The structures still there, though."The group stood beneath the clock tower, looking around.
Luke turned to Cat. "So, where"s this library?"
Cat pointed. They all walked over to the door. "You know, I don't think this is right." Said Moira "Yes, its the perfect place to stash something, but its all boarded up. None of it looks disturbed, how would they get in?"
Cat shrugged "maybe there's another window around the back?" She turned and walked around the side of the building. Suddenly, a tingling sensation prickled over her skin and she began to feel like she was being gently pulled somewhere. Then she saw it. On the wall was a beautifully intricate mural, made up of hundreds of colours and images. Cat looked at it closely. Each image portrayed part of a fairy tale, but the figures were drawn in a dark and twisted way, making the image sinister and strange. Cat leaned closer to the artwork, taking in every detail. Then she saw it. In the base of one of the large trees in the foreground, was painted a door. Except, as Cat watched, she could have sworn the door changed. Suddenly, the handle was no longer an image, but real. The door was real. "Hey, guys! Look at this!"
They all looked at the door. Luke spoke first. "Go on then, try open it."
Cat took the handle and opened the door.
What they saw inside, well, it definitely wasn't Dean and his friends playing a joke. For the first time in many years, Cat looked into the blue eyes that haunted her.
