"Wait"
Julian turned around, to see the little girl now awake and looking directly at him, with bright purple eyes that seemed to glow in the dark. The street lamp outside the window leaked a beam of light into the room, backlighting the small figure and highlighting streaks of reddish bronze in her otherwise dark hair, giving her an almost ethereal glow. In the dark, Julian could see the determination expression set on her face.
"I am not afraid of you."
And she wasn't, which surprised Julian, that a little girl could have so much control over her emotions, her instincts, to face the creature in the dark.
He smirked as he watched her attempt to penetrate the dark with her eyes, slightly in awe of her lack of fear and her amount of self-confidence. Something had clearly changed this girl, made her resilient and strong, yet he could sense something broken inside. Hidden fear, which she had somehow managed to box up and ignore. This one had a fighting spirit.Once again her voice cut through the dark, catching him off guard.
"Can I see you?"
Julian almost laughed, surprisingly enjoying listening to this little girl. He forced himself not to react, mentally scolding himself. He couldn't risk becoming attached.
"I know your there, please come out."
Julian looked back at the girl. Big mistake. The curious, pleading look in her eyes overwhelmed him, and almost unconsciously he stepped into the shaft of lamplight.Sorry the chapters a bit rubbish. Stick with it, it will pick up!
