The door was easy to find after that. Large and foreboding, the black stone glowed with the unearthly red light.
Cat placed a hand on the door. "Well, it's now or never." She pushed the door open.
They walked into darkness. Cat couldn't see, couldn't hear, couldn't feel.
Suddenly, she could see a shift in the light, a brighteness.
She walked forwards towards it, and stepped through a doorway.
First thing she noticed was the mask. No longer in her hand, it was mysteriously adhered to her face.
She ran her hands over it, finding an edge and giving a tug. It was like trying to pull of her own skin.
Biting her lip from the pain, she glanced down at herself. Leather corset, light cotton pants and leather boots. Well, at least it wasn't ridiculous.
Then she looked around at her surroundings. She was in some kind of pit, dug deep and dimly lit.
She looked up. And suddenly she was really worried.
Around the pit were rings of stone benches, similar to the colosseum, but newer and made of the black stone.
There, sitting in what Cat could only describe as the emperors box, was a overzealous Talitha and a neutral faced Julian.
Cat was so screwed.Lindsay, Moira and Luke stumbled out of the darkness into rows of seats, set around a sunken pit. The first thing they saw was Harry, leaning casually against a bench.
Luke lunged at him, swinging his fist into the face of his former best friend.
SMACK!
Harry reeled back, blood dripping out of his nose.
Luke screamed at him. "You traitor! How could you leave them! How could you abandon me!"
Harry clutched his face, speech distorted through his bleeding nose.
"I did it to save my life. I'm not proud, but I'm not sorry. Look, mate, give up the game. It'll be just like normal, friends together. You and me, mate. Cat too, if she stops being stubborn."
Luke lunged at Harry again. "Where is Cat? Where is she? What have they done to her?"
