Julian stood in front of Cat, eyeing her with amusement.
He was dressed the same, except all in black, so that he blended with the shadows. His smile was cruel and cunning, he seemed to absorb all traces of light from the cavern.
Cat rolled her eyes, immediately turning to sarcasm. "We really must stop meeting like this. Maybe you should call ahead, so I can fit you in around my busy schedule of avoiding horrible death."
Julian quirked an eyebrow. "Yes, well, if you didn't talk so much and weren't so defensive and mistrusting, I would have had time to make my generous offer before we got interrupted by the false blonde one. Where is she, anyway? Ran off screaming? Having tea with the rats? Oh, let me guess." His eyes glittered wickedly as he smirked. "You sent her off so you could play hero."
Cat's fighting streak flared.
"What do you mean by that? 'play hero.' " she argued defensively "I'm not playing hero, I'm just..."
Julian shushed her by holding a finger to her lips. "You talk to much." He murmured, bending down to be level with her face.He studied her, eyes tracing every aspect of her face. Cat stared at him, stunned into silence by his sudden closeness.
Slowly, he leaned in, until their faces were just a hairs breadth away. Then suddenly, he cracked a wide grin and bounded away , taking long strides to the other side of the room.
He leaned against the wall, smiling wickedly.
Cat backed up, supporting herself by clutching at the dirt wall. She was breathing hard, her heart pounding and her blood rushing in her ears. Sparks tingled through her veins.
Julian laughed at her reaction. It echoed through the dark, both chilling Cat to the bone and setting her alight. She shuddered slightly and pressed herself into the wall.
Julian chuckled. "Now, look, we've gone off track again. This has to stop happening or we'll never get anywhere."
"Well then," Spat Cat "Stop attempting to engage me in some random conversation reminiscing about the one time I spoke to you before you kidnapped my brother, or attempting to freak me out with your lack of appreciation for personal space. Now, if you don't mind, I have a magical flute to find."
"Yes, and hows that going? You know where to look, don't you?"
Julian's tone was mockingly kind. Cat narrowed her eyes at him, trying to work out what he was doing. What was he aiming for?"Oh, so you don't know? Well then, what are you going to do?" He smirked, obviously enjoying himself.
Cat scowled, crossing her arms and stamping her foot. "What do you want? I mean, I assume you know since you are obviously taunting me. So, what'll it take for you to tell me?"
Julian pretended to think, stroking his chin thoughtfully as he stalked towards her.
Cat would have backed up but there was nowhere to go.
"What do I want?" He mused, his voice as soft and smooth as water running over stone. "What could you possibly give me that I want?"
Suddenly, he was right in front of her. His breath tickled her ear as he whispered in a silky voice.
"A kiss. I want a kiss."Sorry it's so long, but I've been burning to write this!
