Dedicated to Captainpendragon42 and ElizabethAirabeth.
Catat stared up at the tower. "Wow." She whispered.
Then she looked down. "Wow."She was no longer wearing her loose t-shirt and leggings. Instead she was wearing tight fitting trousers and some kind of black leather corset top. Black leather boots decorated her feet.
"Well, you have to hand it to them, they have a great taste in clothes." Cat thought, smirking. She looked back up at the tower. "Let me guess, now I have to climb"
She took hold of the rope of hair, tugging experimentally. Then she began to climb. It felt like she'd been climbing forever. Her arms ached and strained but she kept going. Finally, the window ledge came into view. She scrambled over it, pulling herself up. And there she saw her.
A figure, a girl, stood in the middle of the room in a delicate white dress. Her face was masked and her eyes glassy and colourless. The mask was held at the back by a large, ornate comb from which her golden hair tumbled and spilled onto the floor and out the window. The comb! The riddle! It was the answer, she was sure. Combs had teeth and if you were bald you wouldn't need one, but you would if you had hair!
Cat was practically jumping for joy. This wasn't so hard. She picked her way through the tonnes of hair draped across the floor and approached the woman, warily in case she reacted. But she made no movement, no sign of reacting. In fact, she made no sign she was alive. Cat waved her hand In front of her clouded eyes. No blinking, no breathing, nothing.
Cat reached round and slowly removed the comb.
The mask dropped to the floor, clanging loudly, followed by a soft thud as the hair that had been trailing from the comb followed it.
The girl gasped loudly, her eyes becoming clear.Song suggestions for this chapter would be appreciated. Or the book in general.
