They hurried up the stone steps, each footfall ringing out through the halls. Reaching the top of the stairs, Cat turned around to help the others up. And felt her heart skip a beat.
The statues had definitely moved.
Whereas before they had all been spread around the room, now they were all crowded at the bottom of the stairs, their stony faces turned up, staring with carved eyes.
"Uh, guys? Please tell me that I'm imagining this."
Lindsay and Harry shook their heads. "Sorry, but your not." Said Lindsay.
"Anyone else reminded of the weeping angels from doctor who?"
Cat shot Harry an evil look. "Great, that's just the thought I needed."
"Sorry." He mumbled."Actually, he may be onto something." Countered Lindsay. "I mean, they never seem to move whilst we're looking at them, just like in doctor who."
Cat was surprised. "You watch doctor who?"
Lindsay scowled. "Not really the time to discuss this but yes. I'm not as boring and one dimensional as you obviously believe."
Harry swiftly stepped in between them both. "Moving on. Best probable solution is to keep moving forward, away from the creepy statues. So let's carry on, shall we?"
They walked down a stone hallway, passing a couple of statues, but apart from possibly changing position, nothing really happened.
Cat felt the need to break the silence. "So, any thoughts on an answer to the riddle?"
"I don't know. Like, how have you worked them out before?" Harry replied, shrugging.
"I dunno, the answers kind of just jumped out at us." Said Cat, her mind drifting off for a second to the deal she'd made with Julian to find the flute. She still couldn't quite understand what he'd been after, why he'd wanted to make a deal in the first place. There had to have been more in it for him just a kiss.Lindsay's voice brought her back to the present. "Well, to be honest, it should be pretty simple to work out once you work out what the fairytale is." She looked at the other two's astounded faces. "What, don't tell me you hadn't noticed. The first one was obviously meant to be Rapunzel and the other some heavily disturbed version of the pied piper."
Cat thought for a minute.
"Actually, your right. I don't know why I didn't see it, I think I was too distracted trying not to die, but well done Lindsay! Now, all we need to do is figure out this tale, and we're all set. Any ideas?""I may have an idea!" Chimed a sickly sweet voice from behind them.
Cat turned around.
"Okay, I take back both the witch and the rat comments. That is you through and through."Intriguing, right? Any guesses on the next fairytale? Opinions, comments or criticism on the chapter?
