Cat had that 'watched' feeling, as if there were eyes all around her, seeing her every move.
She crept forwards, trying to sneak away from whatever was watching her, but she could practically feel their gaze burning into her skull.
"Don't be an idiot, Cat. Chances are, there's nothing out there.""Though it's equally possible there is everything out there, and it's going to eat your head."
Cat shook her head to dispel the thought. That was not an image she needed on her mind right now.
Something rustled in the bushes.
Cat swallowed nervously.
Eyes lit up in the shadows of the bushes. Red eyes.
Cat swallowed again. She got the feeling this was going to be a lot different to the wolf.
She couldn't have been more right.
The creature crept out of the bushes, into the light. Cat's jaw dropped.
She had no idea what it was, just that it was big, exceedingly big, with matted, mangy fur covering it from head to toe. It's face was gnarled and twisted, and it snarled, saliva dripping from its teeth.
Cat turned tail and ran.It gave chase, charging after her, growling intimidatingly. Cat felt like screaming, but the sound never came, which in some ways Cat was pleased of. It meant she could at least pretend she was partially competent.
She raced down the path fast as a cheeter, with the creature giving chase when...
She tripped. Over a tree root. And went sprawling on the ground.
She swiftly shifted herself so she was facing the creature. It padded up to her, sniffing her face. Cat let out a high pitched whining noise.
Suddenly, the creature licked her, saliva running in strings from its tongue to her face.
She wiped her gummed up eyes in disgust.
The creature panted happily and wagged it's tail, hopping around.like a puppy wanting to play.
Cat smiled weakly.
"You've got to be kidding me."
