It wasn't just a fantasy. He really was holding her in his arms. She was cuddled up against his solid chest, resting her head against his fitted silver-grey shirt. When he'd spoken, she'd looked up swiftly, and was gazing into his deep blue eyes. The hint of a smirk played on his lips.
She struggled for something to say, but it was hard to think when they were in such close proximity. "Uh... w... wh... were you reading my mind?"
"Only a little." He was definitely grinning now, enjoying himself. "You were daydreaming rather loudly, it wasn't hard. Do you usually fantasise about me? I'm curious now."
"Go away! Leave me alone! Go to hell!" Yelled Cat, trying to push herself away from him. He just pulled her close, tucking her head under his chin. Gently, he stroked her hair, playing with the fiery strands between his pale fingers.
She struggled against him, pounding her fists against his chest, but eventually she began to calm, dropping her hands and sobbing into his chest.
"They've gone. I'm alone. I can't do this! I can't save them!"She collapsed onto her knees, Julian going with her, and there they knelt, in a huddle, Cat crying and him trying to soothe her.
Eventually, she quited, drawing back out of his embrace. He missed her warmth almost immediately.
She grinned weakly, her eyes red from crying. "I... I don't know what... What to do." She giggled nervously. "I actually don't know what to do. It's weird, I don't like it."
Julian grinned back, not his usual, wicked-playful grin, but a sympathetic smile. "That's up to you kitten. You can either carry on and face Talitha to possibly rescue your friends, or you can give up to me now. Or, I suppose freezing to death is an option, just not one I'd recommend."
She giggled weakly, smiling still. He liked making her smile. He'd missed her smile. So what do you guys want her to choose? Heck, if you have a better option, do tell me! I want to know what you think!
