Cat struggled against the two soldiers gripping her arms. "Let me go! Let me go, now! At least let me go back and sock him in the nose!"
The guards just tightened their grip and dragged her onwards.
Then, over the horizon, she saw a pavilion, built of white and stone embedded with red and black card symbols leading up to one giant heart.
Seated on a beautiful throne of ruby cut into a giant heart, sat Talitha.
Her dress was black and red, a long ball gown with a wide skirt.
On her head rested a crown decorated with more jewelled card symbols. The Queen if hearts herself.
Besides her stood two pages.
One, in a gold mask patterned with playing cards, Cat assumed was Luke. The other she didn't recognize. But Valerian seemed to. "Blaze!" She yelled, struggling against the guards.
Blaze stared dead ahead, emotionless and unmoving."That's Blaze, that's Blaze!" She shrieked, tears streaming down her face.
Cat struggled towards the crying girl. "Calm down. She's trying to make you freak out like this. It's not going to help."
"How would you know what I'm feeling?" She sobbed. "Don't pretend to sympathise with what you don't know about!"Talitha was watching all this from her throne, amusement flitting across her face.
"Well, well, what have we here!" She drawled.
"Trespassers, by the looks of things."
She stood up of her throne and sauntered towards them. She brought her face down low to Cat's, tilting up Cat's chin to meet her gaze. "And what do we do to trespassers?"
She grabbed Cat's throat, chocking her in her strong grip. "Why, it's off with their head's, of course!"
"Not... Trespassers." Croaked Cat. Talitha released her, her throat red with Talitha's handprint.
"You can't seem to think your innocent. Well, it's your lucky day. In wonderland, we have a way of proving innocence.
It's called... Trial by Jabberwocky!"
