The rats dragged the struggling girls down the tunnel into darkness. All that could be seen was the glowing eyes of the rats as they travelled deeper into the dark. A strange sound, like flute music trickled through the stale air, a haunting melody just out of earshot.
Cat couldn't see Lindsay any more or hear her. She couldn't see or hear much of anything. All she could do was feel the warm, furry bodies of the rats squirming around her. She shuddered in revulsion.
Suddenly, there was a dim light up ahead. Cat could see what looked like an opening, an end to the tunnel.
The rats carried them towards it, pulling them into a cavern lit in a strange green light.
The rats dropped the girls onto the floor and scattered, clambering up the slimy, dank walls.
Cat stood up, Lindsay following suit. They brushed themselves of, examining the tattered state of their clothes. Cats dress had lost several inches on her skirt, and Lindsay was missing a sleeve.

Lindsay wasn't doing so well. She had stopped screaming and struggling, but it didn't mean that she was better. She looked small and sickly, as if she was trying to shrink into herself. Cat could see panic visible in her eyes.
Slowly, Cat looked around the cavern. And then she saw Talitha.
Almost involuntarily, even though she was terrified, Cat's mouth twitched a smile.
"Oh, I take it back what I said about the witch outfit. A rat is definitely your look."
Talitha sat in the middle of the room on a throne made of dark earth and glowing gems, creating a rugged, wild appearance to the structure.
On the throne sat Talitha in a black leotard decorated with fur. Her pale locks sported a convincing pair of rats ears. She looked both terrifying and adorable at the same time. She smiled widely at the girls, opening her arms in mock welcome.
"Welcome to my lair. Your just in time for dinner!"
"Wh-what? What do you mean?"
Spluttered Cat. "You don't mean..." she looked around at the cavern. Rats sat in every corner, every shadow. Their beady eyes tracked the girls every move.
"Wait... You can't... " She continued, stuttering over the words.
"Why?" Purred Talitha "do you wish to give up?"
This time it was Lindsay who replied. "Never! We're not giving up!"
Cat looked at Lindsay in surprise. Where on earth had that come from?
Talitha shrugged. "Ah, well. Doesn't bother me. Besides, my pets are hungry, and I promised them fresh meat. This should be very entertaining!"
She clapped her hands. Suddenly, the sound of flute music echoed through the tunnels, ringing painfully and sharply through their skulls.
As one, the rats advanced on the girls.
Lindsay gulped. "Cat," she gasped in a hoarse whisper. "What do we do now?"
Cat eyed the advancing rodents.

"RUN!"
