Oh, rats!

Cat turned and ran down the alley, away from a smirking Julian and towards the sound of Lindsay's voice. She hitched up her skirt, swearing loudly as she tripped on the hem.
Lindsay kept screaming, causing Cat to panic as she charged in the general direction of the sound. Finally, Cat came to a large house with a barn. The screaming was coming from inside.
Cat ran into the barn to find Lindsay freaking out.
She hurried over to her. "Lindsay! What's wrong? Why are you screaming?"
Lindsay looked as white as a sheet. Her eyes wide, she raised a shaking finger and pointed.
"Over there. In the shadows."she whispered in a hoarse voice. Cat looked where she was pointing to see the largest rats anyone had ever seen. They were as big as cats and pitch black, with glowing yellow eyes. They stared at the girls, watching.
Cat swallowed nervously. "Okay." she whispered "We just back away slowly." She turned to the door slightly, one eye still on the rats. Then she saw them. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw more rats, this time by the door. In fact, every which way they turned, there was more and more rats.
Lindsay began to freak out again, forcing Cat to cover her mouth.
"Shut up." She hissed "We mustn't provoke them."
One of the rats took a few steps forwards, sniffing inquisitively. It approached Lindsay's leg, snuffling around her shoe.
Lindsay screamed around Cats hand and kicked the rodent away.
It squeaked indignantly as it flew into the wall.
Suddenly, the group of rats seemed more alert as every eye snapped onto the girls.
"Oh, no." Murmured Cat.

Suddenly, they were swarmed by the rats. Cat kicked and struggled as the weight of her attackers pushed her down. She felt herself being rolled onto her back, with rats attacking all around her.
Then, surprisingly, she felt herself moving. Both she and Lindsay were being carried away on the backs of the rats. A particularly large rat sat on her chest, watching her, making sure she didn't move.
It's eyes lit up the darkness as the girls were carried down a giant, earthen tunnel.
