Chapter 57

"R-radimir." I stared at him in horror as I digested what just happened. I felt like a child sneaking into my parents wallet. And when I was about to get some money, someone caught me. Caught me doing things I shouldn't do. Caught me doing something forbidden.

"What are you doing Eva?"

"A-ah.." Agad kong binawi yung braso ko kung saan nakapatong ang ulo niya. Umiwas ako ng tingin at kunwari ay humikab.

"I don't know. Alam mo namang magalaw ako matulog eh. S-sige ah, good night." Tinalikuran ko siya. Sa isip ko ay binatukan ko ang sarili ko. I couldn't believe it! I have more control than this. I am Eve Williams. I always think before I act. My brain rules over my emotion.

But everything changed when he showed up.

All the barriers that I spent years in building, were just destroyed by him in a very short period of time.

I gasped when he wrapped his arms around my waist. Before I could even protest, he pulled me closer to him. My back bumped on his hard chest. He leaned and sniffed my hair.

"You smell good."

"Rad, l-layo ka naman ng konti." He just chuckled. I'm pretty sure my face is red as a tomato right now. Good thing I had my back on him so that he can't see my face.

"Why? It's cold." He hugged me tighter. "I need body heat."

I could push him away. I could remove his arms around my waist.

But I didn't.

Wouldn't.

"Rad.." I whispered.

"Hmm?"

"Will you do me a favor?"

"What is it?"

"Stop fooling me." I paused, don't know what to say next. "Please. If this is still a part of your plan, stop as early as now. I'm begging Rad. I can't take another betrayal."

"Eva—"

"Please Radimir. Tama na. Kung niloloko mo lang ulit ako tumigil ka na kasi.." Kasi malapit na kong maniwala. Kasi malapit mo na kong mapaniwala ulit.

"How many times should I tell you? None of this is part of the plan." Binaon niya ang kaniyang ulo sa aking likod. "If I'm just fooling you, why will I introduce this place to you? This place is the cause of my nightmares. This house is the dirty part of my past. It takes everything to visit this again. Even the king of Tenebrous can never make me visit this dungeon again."

This place was a dungeon for him. This place held him captive. This is where his parents die infront of his very own eyes. I knew exactly what it felt like. I knew the pain.

I experienced it myself.

"But when you said that you trust me, all my instincts are shouting me to protect you. Wala na akong pakialam kung anong pwede kong maramdaman kapag binisita ko ulit ang lugar na to. Ang mahalaga ay ang kaligtasan mo. Ang tanging laman lang ng utak ko ay dapat hindi kita biguin."

Natahimik ako. Hindi ko alam kung ano ang dapat sabihin. Kung ano ang dapat paniwalaan.

How much to believe? How much was too much?

"Eva, will you face me?" I hesitated.

But I still did it anyway.

Humarap ako sa kaniya. Inadjust niya ang kaniyang posisyon. Pinatong niya ang aking ulo sa matipuno niyang dibdib.

"This is wrong Radimir."

"I know." He wrapped his arms around me. I placed my right arm on his chest. In this position, I can even feel the movement of his chest as he breathes.
