Chapter 45

Mickey's POV.

I take a seat in the car and wait for Josh to finish talking with Emma. She seems to be warming up to him, and she might just possibly forgive him. I know she will. Before I know it, she's in the car slamming the door.

"What did he do this time?"

"Just drive I'll tell you when we leave." she sighs.

Oh boy he really messed up, again. I pull out of the drive way, and take one last look at the house before finally leaving.The car is silent except for the soft music coming from the radio. I look over at Emma and she's staring out the window.

"Are you going to tell me what happened back there? I thought things were going okay with you two."

"Ugh it was going okay! He just apologized more and I was actually happy that he came back you know? And then he just had to say that I was jealous of him and CHLOE!" she grunts.

"He actually said that? Wow, that's not something you say out loud."

"I know exactly!" she says returning to stare out the window.

"But.. were you?" I ask.

"Was I what?" she turns back to me.

"Were you jealous?" I carefully ask.

"No! Of course not, of course not no I wouldn't be?" she lies.

"Emma you've always been a terrible liar. You don't have to lie to me." I say while turning the corner.

She sounds a little hesitant at first but decides to answer truthfully.

"I mean it wasn't fun seeing her with him. Maybe I was a little bit jealous.."

"I knew it! You could never hate him! He's been your everything for as long as I can remember."

"I know, that's what sucks. I know that I have to forgive him at some point but he still hasn't given me a good reason to." she looks sad. I hate seeing her this way.

"Don't worry, he will."

Finally we pull into the driveway, after a long day.

Josh's POV.

I lazily drag myself back into the house thinking about her. She makes me crazy. She literally makes me crazy. I've never been so confused in my life. I don't know how to deal with my feelings for her. But if I keep making dumb mistakes like that, she'll be out of my life for good. Why am I so stupid?

"Josh are you okay hunny?" Mom asks.

"Yeah I'm fine I just need to be alone for a bit." I give her a weak smile before I make my way up to my room. I fall into the bed, thinking about what I need to do. I have to some way make it up to her. I don't know how but I have to. I grab my phone and scroll through my contacts until I find her name. Maybe I should give her a call? I push the call button before I end up talking myself out of it.

"Hello?" says a male voice.

"Oh sorry I think I have the wrong number." I'm about to hang up until his voice stops me.

"Josh?"

"Umm yeah who is this?" I ask.

"Eli." he replies.

"Oh hey sorry I didn't recognize you for a second. Is this Emma's phone?"

"Yeah sorry she's in the shower. I'll have her call you back later." he says about to hang up the phone.

"Wait! Eli can I uh talk to you?"

"Um yeah sure."

This isn't awkward at all.

"I kind of did something really awful and Emma's mad at me-"

"Wait you didn't touch her right." His voice tenses up.

"No of course I didn't."

Images of Emma flinching when I was going to wipe her tears come flooding back to me. I would never hit her. Why would they think I would?

"Do you know anyway I could possible make it up to her?" I ask.

"If I know Emma, then all it takes is a simple apology. Don't lie to her. Don't sugar coat anything. Just tell her the truth. She's not one to hold grudges. Especially when it comes to you. She'd probably kill me if she heard me say that." he laughs.

"Really? Alright thanks Eli." I smile at his remark.

"But hey Josh, don't you ever hurt her again okay?" he warns me, but his voice is light telling me that he's not angry.

"I won't. I never meant to."
