Emma's POV.
I wake up to the bright sun shining through my window. Looks like it's going to be another hot day. It's 8am and I have no idea when Josh is planning to pick me up, or if he still wants to see a movie with me. I decide to keep it safe and take a shower while it's still early.
Before I go in, I rake through my closet, trying to find the perfect outfit. Jeans are my go to choice but it seems a little too hot for them. But then again, I hate wearing anything too revealing. Guess who I can thank for that?
I don't think I have another dress, or even shorts for that matter, that Josh hasn't already seen. Maybe Mickey has something.
I rush over to her bag and start pulling clothes out. All of her clothes are either too revealing or just wouldn't look good on me at all. My hand runs across a black maxi skirt. Perfect. I grab a floral shirt and a cardigan and finally take a shower.
After my quick shower, I get dressed and fix my hair up a bit. I also put some make up on. I usually hate wearing make up but the fact that I'm seeing Josh makes me want to look my best. Weird, I never tried this hard for anyone. Well anyone in a long time that is.
When I'm finally satisfied with the way I look, I decide to go downstairs to make breakfast. It's still early.
"Emma? What are you doing up and dressed this early?" Mom asks while making a pot of coffee.
"I just woke up super early and yeah."
"But why are you dressed like that?"
"Oh um. I'm going out with Josh. "
"You're going out with Josh?"
"No! I mean yeah I'm going out as in outside like going to a movie as friends not like going out and doing coupley things psh nothing like that just going out as friends nothing more-"
"Emma calm down!"
I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding. Why am I acting so weird and nervous?
"Come here." she pats a chair next to the kitchen island. I make my way over there and take a seat while she pours us both some coffee.
"Thank you." I say when she gives me the steaming cup.
"What's wrong? Why do you seem on edge?" she asks.
"I..I don't know. Josh wants to see a movie but made it clear that it would only be the two of us. But I don't think it's a date because we just became friends. And he's leaving in three weeks Mom. I'm just so confused."
"I see. Well the important question is do want to be more than friends with him?"
"Of course I do-no I don't. I don't know. Friends is better than nothing. I'll take what I can get." I answer.
"Just see how it goes today. He'll reveal his true intentions soon."
What the hell does that mean? She sounds like a freakin fortune cookie.
Josh shows up five hours later.
Josh's POV.
My nerves are high when I get ready for the movie date. I throw on a pair of my favorite jeans, white t-shirt, and leather jacket. And I make sure to put on the cologne I know Emma likes. When I'm all set and ready, I head out the door. I've managed to make it outside without any questioning from my parents. It's surprisingly cold out.
I realized that I should have called Emma to tell her I was on my way. But I'm already half way there so I decide against it. I wonder what she thinks about this date. She wouldn't have said yes if she wasn't into me. Right? My heart starts racing as I pull into her driveway.
