Chapter 72: "A Hero"
Jolene Milford's POV
- - -
There are several things that you learn early on in the business of professional wrestling: Showbiz is difficult and certainly not for everyone; The fans aren't always going to react to you; Unless you're very damn over, selling merch can be hard; Some people are faker than their characters; But, most importantly, if you piss someone off enough, they'll find a way to get back at you.
Or, in this case, they'll find a way to use you to try and fix their mistakes.
That's how I wound up here, participating in this bikini photo shoot for WCW. I believe that when I pissed Eric off - and then Kev crawled down his throat to get me un-suspended - he tried his damnedest to find a way to use me to solve his problems.
The problem in this case is that WCW is going under and we need money. The solution? Throw me in a swimsuit and have me model with the rest of the girls in hopes that we can sell a few magazines or whatever the fuck we toss these pictures in.
I just can't figure out if Eric thought this would bother me or not. I'm obviously very confident in my appearance, and while these aren't my favorite things to do, I have no problem doing them. For as much as he and Bret love to call me a slut, I would think Eric would know that.
Then again, I don't doubt that this is Eric's way of 'letting me know' that I'm no more than an a piece of ass to the company. I know that's all he thinks of me, and it's all he ever will. I don't care if he likes me or not, I just wish he'd fuck off and let me do my damn job without him trying to stay in my way.
As far as today goes, though, I don't think I can complain all that much. I mean, I'm at the beach with Kim and we both look damn hot. Kev and Dally are here, too, but they're at the shack on the other end of the beach.
It's kind of ironic, if you think about it. We're doing this photo shoot to make money, but I know the company shelled out a pretty penny to block off the beach like this.
"... Okay, Jolene, scoot over just a little bit!" I follow every instruction from the photographer. He seems like a nice enough guy; or, maybe he's just happy that he gets see beautiful, scantily-clad ladies all day? "That's it! Smirk for me."
The flash of the camera is annoying, but this hasn't been too bad. I think these pictures of me will turn out very well.
"All right, and one more like that. Wink, and pose and- Ah! Perfect!" The man beams as he scoots out from behind of his camera. He motions me over to him with one hand and gives me a grin. "Okay, Miss Milford, I think we're done for the day. Tell the Nitro Girls to send someone out here, so that they can go next."
"Sounds good." I pat the guy on the back as I pass by him. I don't go far, since I'm only going to the other girls. They're all in a different shack from the one where Kev and Dally are, one that is close by where we're taking our pics. "They're ready for the next one."
Seeing as she's the leader of the Nitro Girls, Kim picks one of the chicks and sends her on her way. I figure Kim will go last, because she's a hell of a lot nicer than I am and she'll let everyone go before her.
Instead of heading back out to my babe and my brother, I take a seat beside of Kimmy at the picnic table that she's sitting at. There are two other ladies across the table from us, and honestly, I barely know their names; they've been with the Nitro Girls since they formed, too. I'm so out of touch with the women of the company that it's sad.
In my 'slutty' defense, I don't keep up with the men, either. At this point in my career, I try to just stick to the people that I know won't fuck me over. Everyone else is just a nameless face, more or less.
