Chapter 86: "The New Blood"
Scott Hall's POV
- - -
As soon as Nitro goes off the air, I lean my head back against the headboard of my bed. A lot of shit just happened in a short amount of time, and if I don't really understand it, how can the fans? This is just fuckin' insane.
The New World Order is gone now, and I wasn't even there for it. Yeah, sure, we've hit bumps in the road with the nWo before, but I think it's finally gone for good this time. I'm not there, and Kev and Hulk have already moved on.
It's dead in the water, like all of the other gimmicks that WCW has laid to rest over the years. I didn't expect that to sting like it is, but fuck, this hurts. The nWo meant a lot to me, like it did to Kev and Joli and, deep down, Hulk, too.
I guess a big part of the reason that's fucking me up is because, goddammit, Eric is back. It took the little bastard a few months, but he's finally weaseled his way back onto WCW television.
I don't think he's got anywhere near as much power in the company as he did before, but the fact of the matter is that he's there. Eric is television and he's started a big angle, so he's going to be backstage for at least the foreseeable future.
To make matters worse, Eric is working alongside Russo. The two of them have joined up in kafabe now, showing the world how good of friends they actually are. They're calling their little alliance, 'The New Blood,' and they're going to do more harm than good to WCW.
They might as well shut us down now. If this is really the kind of content we're going to be creating, we're better off not doing anything at all.
Meanwhile, at least my friends are doing something somewhat cool on television now; that is, if you want to call it that.
Now that the nWo is gone, Kev and Joli have allied with Ric, Hulk, Sting, Sid, Curt, Liz, and Dallas. They're a group that's named the 'Millionaire's Club,' and let's be honest, they're a far more likable group than the New Blood.
I'm sure Joli's super fuckin' excited, because she's going to be able to work on the same side as her brother again. Instead of them going against each other like when Dally feuded with the nWo, they'll be allies. Hell, that makes me happy! I know thats got to mean a lot to her.
Of course, Joli probably isn't thinking of any of the positives of what's going on right now, because I'm sure that she's trying to attack Eric. She's undoubtedly pissed off, and I'm kind of glad I'm not there to see it.
I want to give Kev and Joli a call, but I feel like they'll call me once they get back to their hotel. I feel bad about it, because I haven't really talked to them all that much since I went on my little break from the company. But hey, I'm doing better today, so I might as well give it a shot, huh?
While I wait for Kev and Joli, I kill some time around the house. I take a quick shower to help wake myself up more and then I head to the kitchen. After making some sandwiches and snagging a couple of bottles of beer, I head back into my bedroom.
I'm halfway through my first sandwich when my phone starts to ring. I swallow the bite of food in my mouth before picking up the phone and greeting the other line.
"Brother, did you watch Nitro tonight?" Kev asks as soon as I answer the phone. "Because there's some shit going on around here again."
