Chapter 76: "It's Almost Time"
Kevin Nash's POV
- - -
As I've learned over the past few weeks, there are a whole lot of damn things that go into planning a proposal. I mean, yeah, I could probably just throw something together off the top of my head, but that's not the way I want to do things. My babe deserves more than that.
Step one is already taken care; I've gained Dally's blessing. Since our first conversation about my plans, Dallas has grown more and more excited about the whole thing. He's a real confidence booster, for all the hell he gives me. There's no one out there in the world that is more real or honest with you than Dallas, and especially right now, that's something I fuckin' appreciate.
Step two was completed when I told Kimberly what I had on my mind. I thought she had shattered my damn eardrum, she screamed so loudly. I've seen Kim happy before, but never as much so as when I told her that I was going to ask Jolene to marry me. She teared up when I told her that I'd asked Dallas about it first, and that made me fuckin' grin. They're the family Jolene deserves.
Step three was telling Scott, which wasn't as easy as I wished it could have been. I could tell that he was happy for us, but at the same time, it broke his heart. He's never really moved on from Joli, but can I blame him? She's the most amazing woman that either of us have ever met. If things had gone the other way, I can't say that I wouldn't hurt, too.
Once I'd told my three main sources, I took care of step four, which was deciding where and how I should propose. Just thinking about it all makes my head spin. She'll either think that I'm the most romantic man on the Earth, or she's going to laugh and call me corny as all fuck.
Really, as long as she's smiling as she says it, I'll be happy either way.
Since all of that is taken care of, I'm brought to step five. This has been the hardest part yet, because I'm absolutely fuckin' clueless on it.
When I told Kimberly I was going to ask Jolene to marry me, she told me that she wanted to be as big of a part of the planning process as possible. I'm beyond thankful for that, because, if I had been alone today, I'd be even more lost than I already am.
I mean, I don't have any goddamn idea what a perfect engagement ring looks like. It's supposed to be big and shiny, right? And expensive?
As I walk into the jewelry store with Kim, I'm automatically taken back by the bright lights and shiny stones inside of it. This is definitely a hell of a lot flashier than what I'm used to, but it's fine. My inevitable headache is totally worth it, considering I'm getting something for my gal.
"Welcome!" This flamboyant dude greets us as soon as he spots us. He's wearing a tux and he looks way too happy to be here. "How can I help the two of you today?"
"We're looking to pick out an engagement ring." Kimberly explains with a grin. "He's proposing to my best friend soon, and I'm here to help him out."
"Ah!" The man claps. "That's great! I hope everything goes well for you, sir." He bows politely to me.
"Thanks." I nod back at the dude. "My babe is perfect. I'm trying to find something that lets her know how much she means to me."
"Thankfully, we've got a huge selection of engagement rings that you can choose from." The jewelry guy smiles as he motions for me and Kim to follow him. "I'll show you everything we've got."
"Thank you so much!" Kimberly cheers as we begin our short journey to the back of the store.
"Now, before we start going through all of these, I have a couple of questions." He looks over his shoulder at me as we walk. "What's the price range you're looking for, here? Because we have tons of lovely rings for any budget."
