For Olivia's sweet sixteen, all I wanted to really do was dance with Ruby.

However he had his eyes set on her. Like always.

I sat down at the table inside while most of the party people were outside.

Jamal still hasn't shown up, which sucks because while he does suck at keeping secrets, he's kept my secret for years.

I decided to stop moping around and go have fun with my other friends.

I saw monse and Cesar dancing.

Of course.

I looked around for ruby but didn't see him.

"How come you don't look like you're having fun."

I turned around and smiled.

"Maybe Because this party is lame." I teased him.

"Whatever, this is the best party you've ever been to and you know it."

"Yeah I know."

"Do you wanna dance?" He asked.

"Yeah." I smiled once more and held his hand.

We danced for a few seconds in silence.

"Hey ruby..."

"Yeah?"

"This was a really nice thing you did for Olivia."

"Oh, it was nothing." He looked away.

"Olivia is lucky to have you." I whispered.

"Olivia and I-"

I glanced up at the entrance and saw that guy Cesar refused to kill.

My eyes widened as I saw him pull up a gun.

"Get down!" I yelled, spinning myself in between ruby and the shooter at the last second.

I felt he heat of the bullet tear through me.

I took a deep breath.

I stared at ruby in shock.

I dropped to the ground and stared up at the lights and the stars.

Ruby's face soon came into view.

"Y/n, no!" He screamed. I saw blood on his shirt, was it mine or his? I couldn't tell.

Tears flooded my eyes.

"Ruby I'm sorry." I managed to get out, barely.

He was crying too. His parents rushed over to me.

"Y/n? Y/n? Keep your eyes open, cariña"

Ruby ran over to somebody else who got shot. I don't know who though.

"T-tell ruby I love him please." I cried as I felt myself slipping. I heard sirens.

"No, you will live, honey. You aren't going to die"

My eyes felt heavier so I closed them, to tired to fight it.

I heard beeping.

I opened my eyes to reveal a hospital room.

I saw Jamal, Monse, and Cesar.

"Where's Ruby?" I asked them, they all looked at me, glad I was awake.

"Y/n, oh my gosh, you're awake." Jamal smiled.

"I'll go get the doctor" monse spoke.

"Where's Ruby?" I asked again, ignoring them.
