"This summer has been so much fun, guys. I can't wait for school to start back up." Big red smiled like the dork he is.

"Me too. I wonder if we'll have any classes together."

"I can't wait to see Nini again." Ricky smiled, ruining our happy moment. "Do you think she'd forgive me?" He asked nervously.

I sighed. "She has to. If she doesn't then she doesn't deserve you, Ricky."

Even after everything we've done this summer, he's still hung up on Nini. I would've thought that the countless hours of me comforting him would have made him realize how much I care about him.

"Thanks Faith. I'm glad you're my best friend."

Ouch.

"Hey!" Big Red got offended.

Ricky laughed and they did their little handshake.

"Well, I gotta go guys. You coming Faith?" Ricky stands up, holding his hand out for me to take.

"Yeah." I gave him a small, fake smile and grabbed his hand.

We say goodbye to Red and began walking home. Ricky and have have lived next door to each other our entire lives, which is what started our friendship.

I was playing with my barbies outside. I was only five years old so my mom was watching me from the porch.

Ken was about to skydive into his proposal to Barbie when suddenly, a giant purple ball hit me, knocking me down into the dirt.

Since I was only five, I started crying loudly. Then he ran over. Ricky. My future best friend.

"Oh my goodness, I am so sorry for my son." His mom apologized to my mom.

"It's okay. kids will be kids." My mom tried wiping off most of the dirt on my new dress.

"Ricky, apologize."

"I sorry." He looked ashamed.

"It's okay Icky."

"My name is Ricky. R-I-C-K-Y. Not icky!"

"Faith can't really say her R's that well." My mom explained.

"Icky, Icky, Icky!"  This time  he was crying.

"How about the 2 of you go play together, then we can have lunch."

"Okay!" We both ran off to play with a couple of water balloons and we've been best friends ever since.

However, seventh grade changed everything for me.

I started catching feelings for Ricky as I saw girls flirting with him almost everyday. They all hated me because I was his best friend and they weren't. They called me mean things like ugly and stupid. They told me that Ricky would only ever see me as his best friend. And they were all right. Because now we're juniors in high school and he still doesn't know I like him.

I saw how he looks at Nini. He never looks at me that way and I'm tired of it. So I decided to right him a letter.

Dear Icky,
I'm sorry, but I can't take this anymore. I see you look at Nini and I see you look at me and they're not the same. You used to make time for me, you used to check up on me every day to see how I was doing. Then you met her and everything changed. You hung out with her all the time and left me and Big Red alone. Then you conveniently came back when you guys broke up because you knew I would take care of you even if it meant not taking care of myself.
