Being human was always my choice, I didn't want to live forever, I barely wanted to live, period.
I knew I'd have to work a thousand times harder than any of my friends. I was the only human left. Plain Jane.
Alaric handed me my report card for the semester. He's my occult studies teacher.
I stared down at it.
I'm almost failing my Journalism class??
I sighed and stood up, exiting the class along with everyone else.
"Y/n, wait up!" Elena was by my side quickly.
"What'd you get on your report card?" She asked with a smile. "I got A's and B's."
"Yeah, me too." I fake smiled. "Hey, I'm headed to Mystic Falls to get some stuff, need anything?"
"No thanks, I'm going out with Stefan tonight." She smiled happily.
"Sounds fun, I hope you have a good time." I fake smiled once more.
"Thanks, I gotta go, see ya!" She smiled at me so genuinely, how does she do that?
I walked to my car and got in it.
I laid my head against the steering wheel and took a couple deep breaths.
I sat back up and got scared when I saw Damon in my passenger seat.
"Why so jumpy?"
"Cause I'm weak, and defenseless." I said flatly.
"Someone's not their usual happy self. Can you drive me to the bar? I'd run but there are too many people around."
"Yeah."
I started my car and backed out of my parking space.
"Why are you enabling my alcoholism? I thought Stefan told you all not to let me drink."
"I'd rather you drink around me than alone. I can make sure you don't do anything stupid. Oh wait."
"Someone's extra snarky today." He raised his eyebrows. He looked down at my backpack and snatched up my report card.
"What's this?" He asked sarcastically.
"The Happy Little Princess isn't getting straight A's?" He asked sarcastically.
All I wanted to do was break down and cry, but If I did so in front of Damon, he'd surely make fun of me.
I ignored him instead.
"Didn't Stefan tell me that you've never gotten below a C your whole life? You've always been an overachiever." He said like it didn't matter.
"Things have been hard lately..." I said carefully.
"Yeah, clearly." He scoffed.
We pulled into the bar a couple minutes later.
He got out and came over to my window.
"Didn't you say you were gonna watch me, princess."
"Do whatever you want, Damon. I don't have time to be your babysitter. I have to study for Finals."
I backed out and drove to Mystic Falls.
I went to Damon's house and got him a couple bottles of his bourbon from the cellar downstairs. I figured he'd want to drink them.
I also got a cooler full of blood bags for them.
I knew since they couldn't cross the border, I'd have to be the delivery person.
