I watched from behind the curtains, on stage left as Miss Jen was casting the characters.

I was too nervous to audition, but I still wanted to work on the play so I decided to be a stage hand. It's better than nothing.

We were through all the Gabriella's and most of the Troy's. Then he walked in. Ricky Bowen. He can sing?

I've seen him skateboard by my house sometimes but that's about it other than in the halls and in a couple classes.

His voice was amazing. Mesmerizing and Angelic. He was singing a love song to Nini.

After auditions, I walked out of the auditorium and went to my locker. I saw Ricky talking to Nini.

I couldn't take my eyes off of him, and he definitely noticed. I looked away from him when he noticed me staring.

I shut my locker and began walking home. I checked my mail once I arrived.

A letter from my dad. I don't know why he keeps sending these, I never read them or write back.

I walked into my house and to my room.

Mom isn't home from work until 8 PM every night so I barely get to see her.

I took a nice hot shower and watched Netflix. As I was about to go to sleep, I heard my mom open the front door. I stood up and walked downstairs to greet her.

"Hey mom. How was work?"

"Exhausting. Elenor's water broke in the middle of our sales call."

"Oh my god. Is she okay? And how did the call go?"

"She's fine. She didn't have any complications, and the sales call went great. I guess they felt bad that she went into labor so they bought $750,000 worth of supplies."

"Oh my god, $750,000!? How much of that do you get?" I asked excitedly.

"Elenor and I each get 5%." She smiled.

"$37,500! Oh my god! Mom!" I hugged her tight.

"Yeah. Today was a great day. What about you? Did you audition?"

"No, but I am going to be a stage assistant. So I help set everything up and help with costumes." I smiled.

"Sounds like today was an great day for both of us. We should celebrate. How about we go out to eat?"

"Yes! Let me go get dressed. Can I drive?"

"Yeah, of course." She hugged me and I went to get changed.

Once I was done, we got into the car.

"Meet any of the cast yet?"

"Well Ashlyn is going to be on it, so will EJ. There's this guy Ricky, he's really cute and has such an amazing voice. He's playing Troy. But get this, his recently ex girlfriend is playing Gabriella." I spilled the tea to my mom.

"Tell me more about this Ricky."

"Well I don't know much more other than he lives somewhere near us. I see him skateboarding sometimes."

I looked in my rear view mirror.

"Mom, should I speed up? That truck is kind of close."

She looked back and I looked forward just quick enough to see someone crossing the street.

I slammed on my brakes and the truck behind me swerved around.

"Oh my god did I just hit somebody?" I started crying and got out of the car.
