Chapter 1, The call for help

/Third Person POV/

It was a day like any other for the resistance. Awaiting updates on where to strike the First Order next was the long awaited news that was unsure to come. 

Rey walked next to Finn and Poe Dameron, heading towards a larger building, that had a surprisingly low roof for all the machinery inside. They walked through the open doors and the air became cooler than the tropical setting of planet D'Qar. General Leia Organa faced her back at the three heroes, but she could feel their presence in the room.

"Rey." She said, still looking at the holographic map in front of her. " You could feel it too, right my child?" 

Rey stepped closer to the General, standing next to her, fixing a point in the hologram that wasn't specific. " Yes General. There is a strangeness in the force." 

Poe and Finn stood awkwardly behind the two women, eyeing each other from time to time, to see who would raise their voice first. " I felt the strange pull, like a magnet, a couple weeks after we destroyed the Starkiller base. " Rey said, placing her hand on Leia's shoulder. 

Poe cleared his throat, and Rey and the General turned around. "Excuse me General Organa, Rey, but what exactly is a strange magnetic pull in the force?" He asked, while Finn shook his head 'no' and rolled his eyes, Poe had no transparency, always went straight to the point. 

General Leia's expression remained the same, unreadable. "Well, gentlemen, I am afraid I do not have an answer to your question, Poe. The force is, unknown, but at the same time, you've never felt more comfortable interacting with it." General Leia replied. 

Finn nodded his head, as if he had heard the meaning of life. But the force was life, it coexisted with everything and everyone. Even if it sometimes took an evil turn, and it darkened people's soul, like it had done to Kylo Ren: Sith knight and commander of the First Order. 

Only to mention his name filled General Leia's eyes with pain, as she remembered the boy he used to be, Ben Solo, but she had hope he had light inside him, that 'Kylo Ren' was just a mask to hide a hurt and pained Ben Solo, a scared boy, her son.

" General, I am a little concerned about it. Has the whole galaxy felt it as well? Or was it a call directed to us only?" Rey questioned, pacing around the room in small circles. 

" I couldn't tell you for sure. It surely was an odd, powerful feeling. Like an awakening of some sort." She replied. Leia's mind drifted towards this subject. She had been around two of the most powerful force users to ever exist, and she was pretty powerful herself too, but nothing she had experienced in the force felt like this. The new feeling didn't rise darkness nor light, it was just present.

" What's the plan General? About the disturbance in the Force? Do you think it has something to do with the First Order? Maybe a new knight has been trained into the dark side" Rey pointed out, taking General Leia out of her thoughts. 

 " For now, we stay put. We must gather as much information and not let ourselves be guided by assump-" Leia could not finish her order, when a Resistance member rushed inside the control building, calling out to her. 

 " General! General Leia Organa!" The man said, standing as straight as a soldier in front of the General. " General Leia, I was on patrol duty navigating around surrounding planets of D'Qar, when my radar caught a call of distress coming from a planet in the Outer Rim Territories."

" A call for help, you say?" Rey asks. 

" Yes, I came back as quickly as I could, but by now, I think the First Order must have already taken notice of the message. Our base is closer to where the call was sent from than the Flagship Star Destroyer of the First order. If we rush to the planet where it was sent from, we might make it before them, if they respond to the signal. Should I call some pilots to prepare?" The man asked.

 "What planet are you talking about, brave pilot?" General Leia asked. "Based on the coordinates, we believe it comes from the planet Tatooine." 

Tatooine, General Leia repeated in her head. Tatooine.
