/ First Person Protagonist POV /
" W- what?!" Both Leia and Rey shrieked in unison.
I straightened my back and slightly furrowed my eyebrows to show my determination towards general Leia, who was looking at me with the most hopeful yet broken eyes I'd ever seen. Kylo's eyes. Ben's eyes.
" I want to bring Ben Solo back." I repeated more confidently this time, my gaze never leaving the general's. " I- I need to bring him back to the light."
Leia rested her hand on the table behind her for support, while the palm of the other one was outstretched on her forehead, so no one was able to see her eyes or nose. Her upper body rose and descended quickly, meaning she was breathing just as fast, probably crying.
I silently walked up to her and wrapped my arms around her shoulders one more time, letting the general's tears roll onto my upper chest. I knew she hated looking weak in front of people, she was the face of the resistance, Leia was the one to give them hope, not sadness an a feeling of overcoming empathy towards her.
" You said you want to bring him back?" Leia whispered so only I could hear. " But I did hear you needed to as well."
I slowly nodded my head. " Yes. General I- I care about your son. I care about him so, so much." I sighed, closing my eyes shut as one tear rolled down my cheek. " I need to bring him back, for his sake, and for mine as well."
We parted from the hug and Leia smiled so sweetly at me. " It makes me happy to know you care for my son." She placed a hand on my cheek and dried off the small path of tears with the thumb. " Especially if that person is you, y/n. He needs someone like you in his life."
A slight blush settled onto my cheeks. Okay. The mother approves. I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. I returned the smile Leia had warmly given me and nodded slightly. " Thank you, general."
I turned around to face Rey and Carlist Rieekan with the same serious and hopeful face. The male general looked a little confused at the emotional scene only me and Leia could fully understand, but it appeared he knew who I was as well, because there was uncertainty in his eyes.
" General Rieekan: I came to Ajan Kloss searching for the help of the resistance, not a conflict." I directed towards him.
" How did you find us? Who told you of our whereabouts?" He interrogated.
I stepped back a little because of the slightly aggressive tone of the general and Leia placed herself between the two of us. " Carlist. Calm yourself. I know she means no harm." He didn't reply, instead, he just frowned in my direction.
" It's alright, general Leia, he's only doing what any general would do." I placed my hand on her shoulder. " I understand why you feel distrust towards me, general Rieekan. Trust me, I do, and I'm willing to answer all of your questions for the sake of the resistance's safety if you'd like. I'm here in none other than peace, and I wish no one here harm."
The man nodded after some time to think. Leia scoffed at Rieekan but didn't say anything to contradict. Two resistance members entered the building and grabbed a hold of my shoulders and wrists, as well as the Darksaber's hilt.
" Hey! Give that back!" I twisted my body to free myself from their grasp so I could take the hilt which was now in Rieekan's hand.
" You'll get your weapon back once it's confirmed you are to be trusted." He replied seriously.
" At least give it to general Leia... please." I insisted. " That hilt is very important to me. I promised I'd protect its honor with my life."
Rieekan did as I asked and handed the lightsaber hilt to Leia, who nodded reassuringly towards me as if to say the Darksaber would be safe with her for the time being. I let the two resistance members push me out of the building with Rieekan following behind.
I didn't know where we were heading, but it was probably an interrogation room. My imagination drifted towards the one on The Finalizer. The spotless and dull chamber with metal chairs and a table attached to the floor clouded my thoughts.
I'd made another compromise with the dark side that day, one which I never wanted to take, but I'd done it for Kylo, and now I was being handled like an adversary by the resistance for Ben Solo.
I don't know how long I had been dwelling on my thoughts, but the two resistance members pushing me around had finally stopped in front of a small grey building. I looked behind me past general Rieekan to see we were surrounded by large leaves, with not a single resistance building or ship around.
For all I know we could be near the main camp of the resistance. There are so many bloody leaves everywhere anyways, it's impossible to tell. I pointed out mentally as we entered the structure.
I willingly sat down in one of the first chairs I saw inside the small building which consisted of only one room, and the two resistance members that were keeping me secured walked out, leaving me and Rieekan alone.
" First of all, general Rieekan, I would like to say it's a pleasure to meet you in person. I'd heard of your accomplishments with the rebellion during the galactic empire, and of your efforts as a resistance general." I said in honesty.
He looked at me with a puzzled expression. " Sorry, general. I believe it's not because we're in an interrogation that we can't be polite towards one another." I cleared my throat.
" Alright." He said, sitting down in the chair in front of me. " Now, could you answer my questions?.. Please."
I sighed. Rieekan wanted me to answer how I knew of the resistance's whereabouts, and I had no problem telling him a force ghost had told me, but he wouldn't believe that. " The force." I replied instead. I mean, it's not wrong. It's just not specific.
" The force?" Rieekan repeated, I nodded. " Yes general. I have a very developed sense of the force, and I share a deep connection with general Leia. She's a mentor, a friend, and a motherly figure as well." She's also the mother of the man I love, but Rieekan would know who I was talking about, and then this interrogation would probably go south.
" I believe you, y/n. You carried a lightsaber, and general Leia Organa trusts you. Please understand I am suspicious nonetheless. You did leave the resistance for the First Order a couple months ago."
" I do understand." I agreed. " It... wasn't willingly. I- someone I love very much could have paid with their life if I didn't go. And I couldn't risk that happening, even if it was unsure it would."
" Are you still with the Order? Or have you escaped?" Rieekan asked.
" Neither, sir. It's been a while since I left the First Order. I've been all over the Outer Rim territories. I don't exactly know how long it's been, I lost track of time in space, but it mustn't have been that long."
Just as Rieekan was going to ask me yet another question I was more than happy to answer, one of the two resistance members that had brought me here rushed into the room and whispered something to said general.
I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but the man hadn't been too silent either. It was something about a mission, to the remains of a star of death? And a certain Sith relic that was useful to the resistance would be found inside of it.
Rieekan quickly stood up and turned to me. " Stay here. We are not done with this questioning."
Just as he was about to head out of the building, I stood up as well and called out to him. " Wait general!" I exclaimed, catching the man's attention. " I know you wish for me to stay here, but I overheard what the man said. You're searching for a Sith wayfinder, aren't you?" Riekaan didn't answer, he still didn't trust me.
" And I may be of some help. I know a thing or two about them."
