Chapter 14, The Resistance

/ Fist Person Protagonist POV /

" The Resistance?" I repeated. " Cyern and Syrin Terrik have told me plenty about all of you." The man who had introduced himself as Poe Dameron sighted in relief, " thank the stars! We got the correct person!" He said while wiping off sweat from his forehead. 

I chuckled. " But why did you go for me? Why risk your life for one person?" I interrogated, I was curious, and a little bit suspicious. " That's what we do. You seriously don't know why we went for you? According to Rey and our general, you've got quite some power. We tried getting to you before the First Order did in Mesoriaam, but we were too late." Another man said. " I'm Finn, by the way." He said, extending his hand.

 " I'm y/n." I replied, shaking his hand. It felt warm, something I hadn't felt in a human in so long. The only warm thing back on The Finalizer was the heat radiated from the blades of the lightsabers. " It's nice to meet all of you."

" It would've been better if it was a different situation, but likewise." Poe chuckled.

I noticed out of the corner of my eye that Rey had sat down, and was breathing heavily, with her eyes closed and her hands on her forehead. I felt bad, because I knew why she felt in pain, and it reminded me of Kylo. 

" Rey. Are you alright?" I asked, even if I knew exactly what was going on. She nodded. " Of course. My head hurts, that's all." 

I sighed. " It's because of me. Apparently I have that effect on force sensitives. You get used to it after some time... I think." I reassured.

 Rey looked up at me and smiled. " No worries, y/n. It's perfect that it causes this, actually." She said, which startled me. That is not the response I had expected. " Now I know it is true. That you, y/n. You are the one we had been looking for." Rey mentioned, standing up. " You are the shift in the force." 

Poe Dameron was sitting in the pilot seat next to the tall Wookiee I had overheard him call Chewbacca. " We're only one lightspeed fly away." He told the Wookiee as he pulled levers and pressed buttons.

 " Hold on tight y/n." Finn warned me, and I grabbed on to a wall as Poe made the spaceship go into lightspeed. " Where are we going?" I asked, and I was beginning to wonder if I had annoyed these people with my questions as much as they would have annoyed Kylo Ren. Rey placed her hand on my shoulder and gave another warm smile. 

" Somewhere safe. The Resistance base."

I took in deep breaths. The mention of the resistance gave me an odd feeling, but it was probably for being surrounded by the First Order for so long. " Hey, everything's going to be fine, I promise." Rey placed her hand on my shoulder. 

I nodded. " I don't know that. But I sure hope so." I sighed as the ship took a jump into hyperspace. The spaceship I had heard Poe call the Millennium Falcon had landed on a warm, tropical planet. 

As we descended the spacecraft, I was taken back by all the clapping and cheering that filled the air. It was warm and enjoyable here, but it missed something I couldn't decipher. I walked behind Rey, with my face down, looking at the leafy path I was walking. I followed her into a building that was relatively big compared to the others I had seen on the short walk.

" You're going to meet our leader now." Rey whispered my way. " I can sense you're frightened. Don't be. You're safe here, and everyone is more than happy that are now with us."

I nodded my head slightly and side smiled. " Thank you, Rey." 

"General Leia." Rey said, as she walked towards a woman that had her back towards me and the rest of the people that were in the Millennium Falcon. 

" Rey." The woman had whispered back, while hugging Rey. " We did it general. We have her now. She's safe." Rey had mentioned with a big smile on her face, pointing towards me. " This is y/n."

The woman who seemed to be their general gently walked towards me, and I was used to staying still and locking eyes, but never had I remembered to have stared into eyes that felt so welcoming and lovable. I noticed the General had placed both her hands at my shoulders and was slightly smiling at me. 

" Welcome to the Resistance, y/n."

Sorry if this chapter was, very, very, very, very short. It is mostly an unnecesary chapter, if I dare say so. It is basically only an introduction to peole you already knew.
