/ First Person Protagonist POV /
He didn't deny it.
Kylo didn't even try to convince me other wise, or try to make the news sound half as bad, even if nothing he could have said would've made it sound better. He stood there, looking almost ashamed of me finding out. But, it was meant to happen sooner or later, and Kylo knew that.
" Why do you look so embarrassed of it?" I huffed angrily. " Isn't that what you wanted, Kylo? To dominate the galaxy and bring it under a dark side rule?"
I was angry. No. I was outraged, and yet, not surprised at all. Even if the past months had started to prove me otherwise: he was still Kylo Ren, feared and heartless dark side night, and supreme leader of the First Order. The Kylo Ren everyone appeared to know was in front of me. The one hungry for power and dominance. The heartless monster, the cold hearted Jedi killer.
" You are right, y/n. That is exactly what I want." Kylo replied in a tone which lacked emotion.
I would have thought, only an hour ago, that the Kylo I was in front of had a warm heart and mind. That he had remains of Ben Solo, and was only torn apart from the difficult decision of turning back to the light side, or continuing the path of darkness he had taken for almost half his life.
" I had hope you know? That it wasn't too late for you. That you could be forgiven, that you could learn to forgive yourself as well." It pained me to say those words, because it made me sound like I was giving up on the better side of him, which I had promised myself I wouldn't.
" Be forgiven?" Kylo repeated. " I can't be forgiven. It is far too late for me." I sighed, " it isn't too late for you, Kylo. I didn't give up on you. I still haven't. Many people have not." I insisted, but he only huffed annoyingly. " I do not want to be forgiven. You will see, y/n. When I rule the galaxy, every living being are the ones that are going to want to be forgiven, by me." He said wickedly.
" So that's your plan? Use the emperor to achieve your thirst for power?" I bravely said, furrowing my eyebrows and standing tall. Kylo's eyes fidgeted, looking away for a second before turning back to face me, his dark orbs cold as ice. " I'll kill him." He stated freely. " When I don't need him anymore. Once I have what I need, Palpatine will be of no use for me."
I laughed in disbelief and shook my head. " You really think it's going to be that easy, Kylo?" I taunted. " We both know the Emperor is too strong for you to even fantasize about defeating him, Kylo. What you're planning, it's suicide. He is the one that will kill you."
Kylo's expression hardened at my comment, but he ignored it and continued rambling. " He has a fleet, one that can destroy whole systems. I can get leadership over them, y/n. I can control the galaxy with them. I can rule over it. We can rule over it together." He said, extending his hand towards me, like he had done twice before.
I was tempted. Tempted to grab his gloved hand and never let go. Tempted by the offer he had made, or at least part of it. My heart had lightened when Kylo had said 'we'. It was all I wanted, to be with him, in better and worse. I yearned to be next to Kylo, to not have to pretend to be scared or inferior to him. I wanted a life where I could stand proudly next to Kylo, and not have any problem because of that, I knew Kylo wanted that too.
But that meant following the path of the dark side. It signified succumbing to the lustful side of the force, the power hungry and Sith ways. It meant allowing Kylo to rule over the galaxy, spreading terror everywhere, but most importantly, it meant allowing him to follow his foolish idea of being able to defeat the Emperor to achieve the blinded dream he had.
" I want to take your hand, Kylo. You have no idea how much I do, how much it's taking me not to accept your offer." I informed him with a shaky voice, and he seemed pleased that I was considering his ideals of galaxy domination at his side. " But I can't do that. And I won't."
