Chapter 18, The spark

/ Third Person POV /

( Resistance base, planet D'Qar )

There wasn't much damage done to the head quarters, and General Leia was doubtful, suspicious. But she was sad as well, because she had seen Kylo Ren, she had seen her Ben Solo, in his mask and black uniform, lightsaber in hand, like a true Sith. Even though he appeared evil, Leia knew the First Order couldn't have attacked for the pleasure of it, she knew her son wouldn't do that, especially with herself in the base. The general walked out of the control building, and what had happened outside broke her heart: people were injured and lying on the floor, in pain as other Resistance members came to aid them.  General Leia was rushing towards the hospital wing, but someone had grabbed her arm and stopped her: Finn.

" General Leia. We might have a problem... " He said to her with a worried look on his face.

" Tell me Finn, what is it now that could worsen the fact we have been attacked my the First Order. " Leia replied, placing a hand on his shoulder. " W- we, we can't find Rey. No one has seen her after the... attack. " Finn replied. At that instant, Poe Dameron had came running down towards the two heroes, panting. " Finn! General! " He said, while friendly hugging Finn. " Thank god both of you aren't injured! " He smiled, unaware they had bigger problems to face.

" Poe! You seem exhausted! What happened to you?! " Finn replied, with the General remaining quiet behind them. " I- I just came back from the arsenal, I had hid some of our younger members in there." Poe said, coughing. " And, I noticed... Y/n 's lightsaber was no where to be found. " He added, with a serious tone. 

" Missing, you say? " General Leia spoke up as Poe nodded. " General, you wouldn't think she... fought against Kylo Ren... Do you? I mean- In her weakened state. " Finn whispered, looking towards Leia. " I do not kn- " But General Leia had interrupted herself. She could not feel the pain in the back of her head no more. Whatever was causing her to ache and burn all over her mind had gone away, or was dead. She wasted no time, as fast as she could, the general jogged towards the hospital wing, followed by the two startled Finn and Poe. 

There was many more people, but the three of them managed to make their way to the far left corner of the establishment, where they found an empty infirmary bed, and a breathing aparatus on the floor. No. No, no no! General Leia told herself as she picked up the breathing helper.  " General... is that?... " Finn whipsered, motioning towards the respiratory help equiptment. He didn't have to finish his sentence, because all three knew exactly who was supposed to lay on this hospital bed. 

" Where is Rey?.." Poe asked, as both the general and Finn turned back to look at him with sorrowed eyes. " We do not know."  General Leia answered, as she stood up, leaving the breathing help equipment on the side table. " Gentleman, please follow me to the control room, we have to discuss. " She said as she walked out of the hospital wing. The two men followed sadly, with their heads low. 

" Y/n is missing, so is her lightsaber, and so is Rey. " Poe repeated various times, pacing around in circles, frustrated. 

" Rey could have grabbed the lightsaber and protected y/n from menace. " Finn said, trying to remain optimistic. " I am afraid that is impossible, Finn." Leia said, with great sadness as she talked. " I cannot feel y/n 's presence. Trust me, it is very potent to force sensitives." 

" What are you insisting general? " Finn continued, but he knew exactly what she meant. "General Leia... are you saying that either y/n has been taken or is..." Poe started, but a familiar figure had interrupted them.

" No, Poe. Y/n is not dead. " It was the voice of Rey, who had her lightsaber in hand and dust all over her tunic. " Rey! " They all said at the same time, relieved to hear the news and to see her safe and sound. " She was taken, by the First Order. Again. " Rey said, while walking towards Leia and placing a hand on her shoulder. 

" Rey, do you have her lightsaber?" The general asked, with little hope in her eyes, which rarely happened. Rey looked startled, as she shook her head no and looked around her, to see the worry in Poe and Finn's expression. " It- it was a distraction." Rey whispered, walking towards a holographic map. " The First Order would have done way more damage if they had the intentions to attack us. It was all a diversion... to take back y/n. " 

" They must know something we don't. " Poe said, sitting down helplessly on a metal chair. " How is it that we are always one step behind them?! " Leia looked at Poe, then Finn, and finally locked eyes with Rey. " We will find out. Y/n is a very strong force sensitive, I can sense it, you can too Rey. She might be the spark we need to burn the First Order to ash." Now, all four were holding hands, looking at each other will the same hope that had built the Resistance. Finn stared into the eyes of his companions, that had once saved him from the cruel grip of the First Order, " And we will be the wood to make it a fire."
