Season Three, Episode One
I took a shallow but strong breath, attempting to calm whatever nerves I had.
Walker and I drove around for twenty minutes, before he pulled over, and handed me a backpack. Well, more specifically he led me through a park, sat me down on a park bench facing the water, and handcuffed a backpack to my wrist. He left me alone on the park bench, but I was able to see where he went, which I felt would be useful.
Walker went to my right, to the edge of the park, got in the driver seat of a cab, and sat waiting.
I didn't have to think twice about what was in the backpack. The man had a tendency to blow up bank vaults, which meant that the backpack was full of explosives.
I took another breath, the plastic of the bench digging into my back as I looked at the backpack closely.
And suddenly, Danny. "I'm moving into position, but I got no sign of him."
His voice was low, and quiet, and I knew that he was talking to someone through a wire. He was behind me, some distance away.
"Jett?" Danny's voice was louder this time, and I just nodded, taking a shaky breath as he appeared in my right peripheral. "Okay, nobody move, he's holding onto a back pack." That wasn't directed to me. "You alright parnter?"
"I'm," My voice cracked, and I breathed again. Danny stood in front of me, his hand outstretched like he wanted to touch me but he was too afraid to. "I'm good. Not like I have a bomb in my lap."
He smiled in a forceful way, shaking his head at my decision to use sarcasm at a time like this.
"It's a bomb." I muttered, looking from him to the backpack.
Danny nodded. "Just breathe J." He turned, speaking into his wrist, "He's handcuffed to a bomb in the backpack."
His phone started to ring, and he looked at me, before answering it. Danny kneeled before me, putting the phone on speaker, and getting angry quickly. "A bomb, Benjamin?! A bomb! What part of this arrangement involved you strapping a bomb to my partner?"
Walker didn't listen to him, he didn't even react. "Tell your sharpshooters to stand down. Give 'em a wave and send them home. Then, walk over, un-cuff the bomb from him and strap it to you. Call me when you've done it."
The call didn't end just yet, and it didn't end until Danny waved everyone off, and told them to leave.
"Danny, Danny, Danny-" My voice was shaking as I spoke. Danny stood, raking a hand through his hair as he tried to figure everything out.
"I'm gonna take the bomb from you." He steps toward me, and I shake my head no.
"Danny-"
"Jett, I'm gonna take it-" He wasn't listening.
I got angry, though I shouldn't have. I felt my hand tighten on the back pack strap in my hand. "Daniel Reagan I swear to hell and back that if you don't shut up and listen to me," I paused, taking a breath, and releasing my hold on the backpack. "Danny, tell whoever you brought with you that Walker is to the right, and that he got in a cab."
"Okay, okay." He lifted his wrist, speaking into the wire that he had and repeating what I had just told him.
"Then, you're going to unlock the cuff attached to my wrist," I took a shaky breath again. I knew what was coming, but I couldn't stop myself from shaking. "And then you're going to step to the side. D-"
